Gateway goes netbook in Singapore with the LT1001G, an Acer rebadge
Now that Acer's Aspire One is on top, there's really little shame in rebadging the popular netbook with everyone's favorite cow-themed computer brand and shipping it on over to Singapore, which is what Acer-owned Gateway has apparently done with the LT1001G. Details are slim, but specs are pretty standard, with a 1.6GHz Atom processor, 1GB of RAM and a 160GB HDD. It'll retail for $688 Singapore dollars (about $458 US), and is accompanied by a few other low and high-end laptops to help mark the company's re-emergence in Singapore after splitting nearly eight years ago -- we'd say we're looking forward to seeing the netbook in the rest of the world, but we pretty much already have.

Looks pretty sexy even though its only a rebadge.
Except for the glare off the moronic glossy screen.
Looks pretty nice and I love cows so therefore this is savage!
Garbage compared to the HP Mini Note 1000
Even though the acer is the biggest selling netbook on the market.
oh I know its the highest selling and all, but that Mini changes the netbook game. Biggest flaw on the Retail version of the mini (best buy sells it for $399) is that they only offer the 16gb SSD, and most people I find jump toward the netbook with the larger hard drive, no matter what the technology. If HP throws a larger hard drive in the mini, give it a few months and we'll have a new king woo (if you cant tell I own a Mini myself)
Which of course is rubbish compared to MSI wind, currently the best netbook on the market (at least after a few easy upgrades)
The $150-$200 price difference (at least here in Canada) between HP and Acer at similar specs makes the point rather moot. I'm not arguing that the HP isn't a great netbook. It's probably the nicest one I've used, but the slightly larger screen and keyboard doesn't justify the cost difference.
I like the design of the HP Mini, one of the best if not best looking netbooks on the market. However, HP did several things to almost intentionally shoot itself in the foot. Its the only netbook to require an adapter for the VGA out when every other netbook has a VGA port, it uses a slower and lower capacity 1.8" HDD vs 2.5" standard in netbooks. Those are two big points that don't make the Mini #1 for me.
Well, the Mini 1000 would have been a standout if they had kept the same resolution from the 8.9 version.
Why bump it from 8.9" to 10" and lower the resolutions ?
Yeah its a nice netbook but it doesn't differentiate itself from the rest of the netbooks.
Anything from the Gateway line is always trash to me. Worst customer service EVER
This actually looks more like a business person would have.. the actual Acer looks more "plasticy".. at least in my opinion judging from the above picture..
Seems to be a shade more than a rebadge. The hinge design is the biggest difference, while the chassis shape and cosmetic design is somewhat altered, the indicators appear to have moved, and something's up with the touchpad.
Totally agree, it it was a rebadge, it was a heck of a lot more than changing the name...
Looks a hell lot better than the A1.
The one thing I can't get over the A1 is the big GAP when the hinges are openned.
Sorry but this one looks a whole lot better than the A1.
Ah, Gateway...anything worth buying in the works? No? It was nice knowing you.

Gallery photos. Clearly the hinge area has been redesigned slightly, and two-tone "trim" applied all around, but it's otherwise identical.
The bad glare off the moronic glossy screen will not be able in the models , i read at http://thelaptopadvice.com/index.php?option=com_fireboard&Itemid=37 and also there are same small teechnical issues
