White Touch Diamond now on HTC's website
We understand that there's a snowstorm underway at HTC's website, but we're pretty darn confident that the HTC Touch Diamond there in the middle is white not from hours under the powder, but from a certain hue of paint. 'Course, it's no surprise to find that this beauty is real, but there's nothing quite like the sweet, sweet taste of official confirmation. Now, about a US release date...

Yup, saw this on my sad, sad, daily visit to the site to see if there’s even a hint of a Touch HD “Pro”.
My life has been ruined by the cruel photoshopper who mocked up the images of “what could be”, even a white Touch Diamond is no consolation. Come on HTC, confirm or deny.

The Touch HD is pretty nice, as is the Touch Pro. I'm not too sold on the Diamond though.

The Diamond is not only capable, but a lot more subtle and pocket-friendly. Of course it's a matter of taste and usage scenarios, but I for one LOVE the Diamond.
I've got first the EU version, and then traded it for an US version. 3G rocks even in Argentina (where HSDPA is enabled) and after flashing different ROMs I finally got back to the stock WWE version. It's more moddeable and stable while speedy.
My 2c.

NICE, FIRST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Big GIANT Balls @ Dec 9th 2008 5:00AM
CRAP!
AlDeezy @ Dec 9th 2008 5:01AM
To tell you the truth buddy your not the first, and never will be. By the way "nice name"
Kris120890 @ Dec 9th 2008 5:18AM
You have got to be the only person to be consistent in crying first and lose every time. Give up.
As in the great words of that great knobjockey
Shite
Hes called iEye or something. He might be you.
Big GIANT Balls @ Dec 9th 2008 5:28AM
I have been first 4 or 5 times. Check it out.
Kris120890 @ Dec 9th 2008 5:41AM
Not as many as me.
DBrim @ Dec 9th 2008 7:26AM
You have to admit, though, that it'd be a lot funnier if instead of "CRAP!", he said "BALLS!"
MMaster23 @ Dec 9th 2008 4:58AM
There never was a doubt wether this was real or not. HTC has been running huge print ads here in Europe to promote the (rather ugly) white Touch Diamond.
The white really doesn't fit in. No sir, I'll keep my black Touch Diamond and Pro.
Richard Lai @ Dec 9th 2008 5:17AM
IMHO the front should be white as well, and likewise with the TouchFlo interface.
Peter @ Dec 9th 2008 5:31AM
Lazy. Sticking a white back on this makes it look fugly. An all white version could have been sex-on-a-stick.
Allan @ Dec 9th 2008 5:56AM
Wish ColorWare would do something with both of the Touches. Dying to hit the BrainStorm button and get whatever it creates first. lol
Totaldramaqueen9000 @ Dec 9th 2008 6:14AM
Ahhh..The Phone That Touched my Heart. It's beautiful, glamourous and majestique.
Hotrod @ Dec 9th 2008 6:25AM
This is one of those phones that I would have to see in person to judge if it's nice or not.
samsharp99 @ Dec 9th 2008 6:26AM
I am *REALLY* undecided over whether or not to get this phone! Love: the look, the features, the size. Don't like: The shiny back (might get the O2 or T-mobile variant), The apparently laggy interface (Xda-developers has nice tweaks) and the reported lame battery life. What do I do?!?!?
phobic99 @ Dec 9th 2008 6:48AM
If you like Windows Mobile go for it. I ordered a Touch Pro (Fuze) last Thursday and I'm exchanging it tomorrow for a Blackberry Bold. Nevermind that the Fuze is a brick (not really a big deal to me) but all the tweaks in the world couldn't keep me from still disliking Windows Mobile and I spent a couple of days testing out various ROMs from XDADevs. I didn't find the screen responsive enough and I had a few other quirks. Coming from the iPhone, the Diamond/Fuze does a lot thanks to Windows Mobile (watching Hulu.com on the phone was interesting) but I just couldn't take the sluggishness any more. I'm done with Windows Mobile unless WinMo7 is mind-blowingly amazing.
H. Henderson @ Dec 9th 2008 6:55AM
I'm hearing that the Touch Pro has three big issues that I rarely see in the reviews:
1) Poor 2D graphics and video performance (as with all WinMo devices with Qualcomm chipsets -- the old PDAs with the XScale chipsets, even the VGA ones, do so much better).
2) Poor GPS performance (apparently, there's a lag that makes it less usable on the road, at higher speeds).
3) Overnight freezing while charging -- Luckily, it appears that not all Touch Pro users are suffering from this problem
At least this is what I'm seeing based on the threads at XDA Developers and PPCGeeks. I'm guessing that things will improve over time. Anyone here with these issues?
Ray @ Dec 9th 2008 10:49AM
@Henderson
I'm suffering from terrible 2D graphics. If anyones shopping to get a new winmo phone, i suggest the omnia here in the US, htc really doesnt care if the consumer gets a fully functional product.
If you buy a htc with a qualcomm in it, be prepared to be unhappy with its performance.
MeMacAndYou @ Dec 9th 2008 7:19AM
The White Touch Diamond has been available in Sweden since early november, atleast.
Level 5 @ Dec 9th 2008 7:39AM
Meh... the original Diamond had that stealth look in all black. The white kills this. So I guess for those that want that limited edition goodness it's all fine and dandy but otherwise I could take it or leave it.
TareX @ Dec 9th 2008 8:35AM
The G1 looks like a misplaced toy in the middle of these "phones that were designed by a designing company".
why why why....
Che_Koala @ Dec 9th 2008 9:03AM
This white HTC Diamond has been plastered all over Rotterdam for at least 2 months now :P Saw people using it too, so it's probably up for grabs.
ai4281 @ Dec 9th 2008 1:53PM
I love my Telus HTC Diamond, but I really want the white version now.. baww
htcfboy @ Dec 9th 2008 1:56PM
Yes!!!!finally the white iphonekiller is here!!!!
ace587 @ Dec 9th 2008 5:28PM
that is just very nice of HTC ;)
Simon McGilbray @ Dec 10th 2008 12:17PM
The white Diamond is available in Denmark from the Telmore webshop.
ikebana @ Dec 12th 2008 7:17AM
HTC Touch diamond is a great smartphone to have. It has got an intutive touch screen and lots of useful functions. Adding a white one in the category will definitely increase the customer base of HTC.
