Aftermarket 10-cell battery creates Eee PC 901: Hammerhead Edition

Like aftermarket batteries do ya? Just keep this picture in mind danger-boy when you're ordering a 10-cell, 13,000mAh Li-ion battery from eBay for your Eee PC 901. Also available in black to match the depths of your shame for turning your ultra-portable into a semi-luggable. One more for grins after the break.

Oh my god
Becky, look at her battery
Its so big
She looks like one of those linux guys girlfriends
Who understands those linux guys
They only talk to her because she looks like a WoW player
I mean her battery
It's just so big
I can't believe it's so round
It's just out there
I mean, it's gross
Look, she's just so l33t
*rap*
I like big batteries and I can not lie
You other brothers can't deny
That when a girl walks in with an itty bitty Eee
And a 10-cell thing in your face
You get blue screened
Wanna press esc
Cuz you notice that battery was stuffed
Gigabytes in the Solid State she's writing
I'm hooked and I can't stop browsing
Oh, baby I wanna get with ya
And take your picture
My homeboys tried to warn me
But that battery you got
Make Me so raid-0
Ooh, electrons of 10-cells
You say you wanna get in my join my chat
Well ping me ping me cuz you aint that average lappy
Jack @ Dec 10th 2008 6:30AM
Chorus was definately the best bit but seriously... it's jsut a battery and that was a poor first.
Intrepid @ Dec 10th 2008 7:06AM
You wrote all that and still managed to come first? Congrats :P
X-Blade™ @ Dec 10th 2008 7:34AM
The internet, sir, belongs to you.

Mobius_1 @ Dec 10th 2008 7:37AM
Kanye West comments on Engadget? Wow!
phil @ Dec 10th 2008 8:01AM
Kanye West? No my dear sir, that is Sir Mixalot.
Unless Kanye West took that song like he did with Daft Punk's "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger"
Techie @ Dec 10th 2008 8:02AM
@Mobius_1Mobius_1
Certainly Kanye West has a bigger ego than he does.
strider_mt2k @ Dec 10th 2008 8:48AM
Indeed!
Well done!
Adderz @ Dec 10th 2008 8:56AM
I Low Ranked you because ive seen that before....

"You wrote all that and still managed to come first? Congrats :P"
That's what she said.
DestroyerMTL @ Dec 10th 2008 9:41AM
Killed it! thanks for the LOLs
cg0def @ Dec 10th 2008 9:58AM
hum ... where have I seen this before ... oh wait it was right here on engadget a couple of weeks ago. It was cool the first time around but dude if you can't come up with anything new pls keep quiet. One hit wonders usually turn out to be lame ( kinda like the song that you modeled your rhyme after ).

Translation: Your first post sucks and isn't funny! I wanted to be first so I could make a blending or crisis joke OLOLOLOLLLOL
lpppppl @ Dec 10th 2008 6:29AM
That's one great mobile netbook.
tom @ Dec 10th 2008 8:29AM
I am always skeptical about aftermarket battery. These batteries are like a ticking time bomb, not knowing when will it go ka-boom
OneLove @ Dec 10th 2008 11:35AM
Defeats the purpose, dare I say.
Fanfoot @ Dec 10th 2008 2:12PM
That thing is H-O-T!
No really, its hot. Turn it off dude!
dj moon @ Dec 10th 2008 6:31AM
Love it!
Might actually make it easier to hold on to (small & slick, for my big hands).
Does anyone state how long it lasts on a full charge (real world numbers, please:)?!?
dj moon @ Dec 11th 2008 12:24AM
I've read "10 to 14", but that might be the company boasting... ;@b
Pizzicato @ Dec 10th 2008 6:31AM
Maybe you should just buy the Eee 1000 battery for your Eee 1000:
http://www.bilder-hochladen.net/files/8x4a-1-jpg.html
Plus 200g more weight for ~12 hours of battery life isn’t too shabby.
Wilden @ Dec 10th 2008 6:33AM
Any word on the battery life? If it gets less than 8 hours I will be sorely disappointed.
NickNick @ Dec 10th 2008 6:32AM
oh come on!
XenoX101 @ Dec 10th 2008 6:39AM
Practicality be damned.
noahTHEpurdy @ Dec 10th 2008 6:52AM
It was designed for the 1000 series of Eee PC's, of course it looks ridiculous on the 901.
BrotherhoodOfNod @ Dec 10th 2008 6:53AM
It's not THAT big at all, if though they could've easily made it ore streamlined. I'd more than gladly "lug" that around if it meant several hours of increased battery life.
Of course, the dangers of 3rd party batteries is a whole other issue that might turn me off of it.
D.S = digtal shit @ Dec 10th 2008 7:01AM
FUGLY
anantha92 @ Dec 10th 2008 7:32AM
GROW UP, stop saying FUGLY.
absinthe party @ Dec 10th 2008 9:11AM
Fuzo! You sneaky bastard!
Fusion Fuzo 006 - Mr Professional @ Dec 10th 2008 9:45AM
True this is really FUGLY on 901. if they make it compact then maybe
and to the two below im not him.

Cybergypsy @ Dec 10th 2008 7:21AM
might as well make it longer and use it as a handle.
strider_mt2k @ Dec 10th 2008 7:42AM
It wants to eat yer BAAYBAA!!!
LondonConsultant @ Dec 10th 2008 7:55AM
Can I use it to scrape ice off my windscreen?
Sauce @ Dec 10th 2008 8:01AM
Battery life, awesome...But come on! Don't tease us with the new Spoon-In-Glass model and Not talk about it at all.
Colin Jones @ Dec 10th 2008 8:18AM
Hammerhead Edition... finally, something practical for the EEE... now to hang my cuckoo clock, where's the nail?
wk @ Dec 10th 2008 8:28AM
Interesting, more hours to spend on a machine that hardly does much.
michaelportent @ Dec 10th 2008 1:06PM
Ya know, I love the EEE, and I love battery life as much as the next guy, but sweet Christ that looks awful. I don't care if it hangs directly out of the back farther at the same width as the netbook itself, but why build it out further horizontally?
tekd @ Dec 10th 2008 1:14PM
It's because the battery is meant for the 1000H dude...it's even curved to the contours of the 1000 series if you look.
The 90x and 1000 series use the same batteries though, so people buy this for the 900 series notebooks too.
And the reason why it goes further horizontal is because the other extended batteries went vertical to cram that much power in and ended up making the notebook like 2 inches thick in the back. This is actually the best way to cram 10 hours of life into a 1000h
ninjagin @ Dec 10th 2008 2:11PM
My god, it's full of stars.
... uh, WANT!
ninjagin @ Dec 10th 2008 2:56PM
Forgive the reply to self, but where does one get one of these?
digitallysick @ Dec 10th 2008 3:24PM
I want one for the wind please!
Pliablemoose @ Dec 10th 2008 6:32PM
I'm getting ~11 hours out of mine, love it, and mine looks worse, I have a beautiful pearl white 901, and a black battery.
I'm thinking duct taping the GPS puck to the back fo the screen is my next mod :)
11+ hours of battery life for me, I take it to work and use it as a GPS with Garmin's Mobile PC software & puck.
