Details on Azeroth-traversing treadmill revealed

Well, it looks like those keen to attempt their own real life trek across Azeroth (or the virtual world of their choice) now have a fairly straightforward course of action to follow, as the originators of the MMO-connected treadmill have just posted some detailed plans for the rig on the ever-useful Instructables website. In case you didn't catch it the first time around, the setup simply uses a mouse (they recommend an MX Revolution) that's held in place against a mousepad affixed to a bicycle wheel, which itself is simply rested against the treadmill -- a joystick handles the directional control. Of course, there's nothing stopping you from taking things a few steps further and, if you do, be sure to let us know.

I love Donkey Kong!!!
I have a couple of relatives that don't get out too much due to WoW. The most exercise they get is the jaunt between the fridge, PC, and bed. I think I may need to set this up for them for christmas.
All i have to say is... WOW.
We all see what you did there
I see what you did there?
Hey guys. What did he do there?
He didn't do much there...
Where?
How much of it did he there attempt?
Undisclosed, however, much of it he'd attempted there wasn't enough to even consider he'd attempted much anything there...
I'm sure this worked for the first five minutes, then he hit numlock and left the treadmill to get a slice of cake.
Man, I don't think I'd even make the trip from Taurajo to Thunder Bluff...
world map reference high five!
wow. i'm so glad I quit two years ago. SO glad.
Well, I don't even play the game (ok, I have a char on my bro's account, level 30 or something around, Tauren, warrior. Last time played was about 2 years ago) :D that's the good news. However, my girl is totally hooked up on the game, which is the bad news :/ That's why (plus my start there) I know the names of some of the places.
it's just like a holodeck!
Only with less shame after.
I disagree. Probably lots and lots more shame. Did you see that youtube video?
If by holodeck you mean having the fact that you are too out of shape to cross an imaginary landscape forcefully jabbed into your skull and puncturing the illusion that you are "te most l337" gamer of all time. Or do you mean in the fact that you will have started to hallucinate halfway to your destination (the next ridge over) and your 20" widescreendisplay now inexplicably fills all your surroundings, the enemy has snuck up behind you and you turn to look just as a flying beast from the netherrealm swoops out of the sky. It's vicious poisionous claws remove your left arm at the shoulder, blood sprays everywhere. You feel the ache of the wound and the fire of the poison racing to your heart, yet for some reason you are still getting colder. Your legs stop moving, Your body becomes heavy. You slump to the ground as the light fades from your eyes. As everything goes black you hear your mother scream. You come to later in a sterile room with wires and tubes attached to you and inserted into every orifice. There is a slight humming in the background with a steady beeping noise. A doctor wearing a mask appears at your bedside to inform you that you have had a heart-attack. There is now a hole in your left ventricle that will require invasive (chest opening) surgery to repair.
Yeah, it's just like that!
@Kali4
um... I have a 24" wide screen display.

a software or hardware configuration that, while inelegant, inefficient, clumsy, or patched together, succeeds in solving a specific problem or performing a particular task.
Yup, I'd say that fits.
How long until Richard Simmons endorses this?
I bet he has a mechanical bull next to it for when he is on his mount.
This reminds me of the "Gamerunner" passive treadmill which was shown at CES 2006, but unfortunately, never released. I can't imagine why -- they were working famously at the show :(
The site is still up but hasn't been updated in a while

what's with the pallet?
I would almost guess Mana pots judging by their assembled displays next to the DK machine, but those things are heavy so I would imagine that pallet weighing a ton and a half and contain 6912 Mana potions with a street value of around $23846. Or something.
