WRUP: Hello, Goodbye edition

Sure we've got a new skin and some structural changes, but the biggest change is one you probably won't see. I'll let you in on a secret: We've adopted a litter of kittens to shadow write for us, and then we throw in animated GIFs to give it a human touch. How's that for

and

? While the felines formulate, we'll be taking a long overdue gaming break. Here's what we'll be up to. (Stay tuned after the WRUP for a bonus scene.)

  • Alexander Sliwinski: My plans to finish the main campaign in Fallout 3 last week went horribly wrong when I went to the Nuka Cola plant and got diverted for two days. Must get back on main storyline. My character is overly nice. I need to play again as a full-fledged psychopath. First thing to go: Megaton.

  • Andrew Yoon: The only game I'll be playing this weekend is "Chicken Wings 64." That's a game where I eat 64 chicken wings during the Super Bowl. Yum!

  • Ben Gilbert:

Chris' PS3 and everything that came with it! Metal Gear Solid 4? Nah, I'm going with SingStar and PixelJunk Eden. It's an inner-capped weeKend!

  • Christopher Grant: A brief sojourn into the Capital Wasteland last weekend suddenly – and quite inexplicably – turned into a 10 hour sojourn (is that even a sojourn anymore?) and kept me up until an unusually late 3am. Also, I don't think I even got anything done. So yeah ... more Fallout 3 I think.

  • David Hinkle: I'm going to be busting grinds and flippytricks in Skate 2, as well as the usual routine of shotgunning fools in Gears of War 2. I'm also on my third playthrough of No More Heroes.

  • Dustin Burg: I'll be continuing my quest for Seriously 2.0 achievement glory by playing some Gears of War 2 and will also dabble in a little Geometry Wars 2. For whatever reason, I have the nagging urge to up my high score in the Sequence mode.

  • Griffin McElroy: Secret of Mana: / Now, with the Fire Seed obtained, / We head to Southtown. (I'm answering in Haiku from now on, and this is something you're going to need to learn to deal with.)

  • James Ransom-Wiley: After saving Ludwig's behind numerous times in the very brief RE5 demo earlier this week, I'm looking forward to a little break. I'll be mostly off duty this weekend, but am considering some unfinished business in Prince of Persia.

  • Jason Dobson: What with all of my shenanigans and goings on, it's hard to say what I'll be doing. New phone in hand, you'll likely find me taking in some of these preinstalled mobile games. Hey, this Word Mole looks fun.

  • Jem Alexander: I shall be continuing my quest into Albion and trying to go 10 minutes without petting or throwing the ball for my doggy (I love its little happy face!). I'll also be arriving fashionably late to the Persona 3 party as my copy of FES just arrived. Any spare moments are filled up with Final Fantasy Tactics A2 on which I've racked up over 32 hours now, with no end in sight.

  • JC Fletcher: Yakuza, finally, and also the very beginning of Contact. And the Hudson Shooting Watch, if it counts as a game.

  • Justin McElroy is playing Nintendo Monopoly with his cousins since his cable and internet are down. At least there's no griefing.

  • Kevin Kelly: I'm actually playing through Afro Samurai, if not just to hear all the funny junk Ninja Ninja says. I'm also struggling through the Fallout 3 Operation: Anchorage DLC while simultaneously going back through Fable 2, just for kicks. Ow, kicks hurt.

  • Ludwig Kietzmann: A friend and I will be dusting off the Dreamcast and delving into classics like PowerStone and Marvel vs. Capcom 2. When I exit the sphere of nostalgia, I'll likely attempt to finish Naruto: Rise of a Ninja and then go back to pretending like I'm too good for licensed games.

  • Randy Nelson: Having (quite excitedly) found that our preview copy of Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena contains the completed Escape from Butcher's Bay remake, I believe I shall spend most of my weekend behind the welding goggles of one Mr. Mark Sinclair Vincent.

  • Richard Mitchell: I'm still wandering the African wilderness in Far Cry 2. I also just started Condemned 2, which already has me watching my back when I get up to use the bathroom at night. Finally, I'm spending far too much time playing a secret game that I have dubbed Project Oprah. You'll be hearing a lot more about that one soon.

  • Ross Miller: A whole lotta nothing ... hah!

  • Xav de Matos: This week I'm burning a hole through my preview copy of Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena, Operation: Anchorage pulled me back into Fallout 3 and I cannot stop playing Super Stardust Portable ... and trust me, I've tried.

  • Justin Glow: I've been making friends with both jQuery, and a strange beer from Poland -- Tyskie -- that was on sale at the grocery store, to make that fancy ticker up top scroll back and forth all pretty like. Have fun!

And now for something completely different ...

That's it for me, folks. After 1,296 days -- that's three and a half years -- 4,280 posts (including this one) and a little over 1.642 million words, it's time for Joystiq and I to part ways. I've never been prouder of the site, and I'm lucky for all that it's afforded me. Thanks, everyone, I miss you all already.
