NintendoWare Weekly: Aliens, Pirates, and Soccer Players

DSiWare

  • Real Soccer 2009 (Gameloft, 1-4 players, Rated E for Everyone, 800 Nintendo DSi Points): It's a soccer game with touch screen-based controls, where players must use the stylus to navigate around the field. Gameloft's title takes advantage of the DSi's camera to allow you to place yourself into the game, or even apply an image as your team's emblem. We're sure it's only a short matter of time before we see the New Jersey Buttcheeks or the Louisiana LOLCATS take the field.

WiiWare

  • Family Pirate Party (Aksys Games, 1-4 players, 500 Wii Points): Not everything involving pirates nowadays has to be all about kidnapping and hijacking. Aksys Games' WiiWare title offers all of the usual treasure-hunting exploits pirates enjoy, but without the crass language and rampant alcoholism usually associated with the sea-faring folk.

Virtual Console

  • Galaxy Force II (Sega Genesis, 1 player, 800 Wii Points): Sega's Genesis title is yet another shmup in the long line of shmups available on the Virtual Console, and features 5 different planets where you must shoot everything in sight. Y'know, just like every other shmup that ever existed.
