NintendoWare Weekly: Bit.Trip: Core becomes 100th WiiWare game

Folks, it's time to break out the party hats and noise makers because, just as expected, Bit.Trip: Core is the 100th WiIWare game to release on the service. Why, we remember our little pal doing finger paintings and learning to ride a bike like it was yesterday. They grow up so fast!

DSiWare

  • Art Style: BASE 10 (Nintendo, 1 -2 players, 500 DSi Points): Art Style: BASE 10 combines those sliding puzzle games with numbers, tasking players with reorganizing numbers on a game board to come up with a sum of 10. The game sports three different modes of play, and if you enjoyed previous Art Style games, you might want to check this one out.

  • Asphalt 4: Elite Racing (Gameloft, 1 - 4 players, 800 DSi Points): Featuring 28 different cars, and eight 3D cities to race through, Asphalt 4 also provides functionality for the DSi camera. You can now have that LOLcat racing team you've always wanted.

WiiWare

  • Bit.Trip: Core (Aksys Games, 1 - 2 players, 600 Wii Points): In the second installment of the Bit.Trip series, players aren't charged with blocking incoming pellets from one side, but four different sides. That's a whole new axis to worry about!

  • Bust-A-Move Plus! (Taito, 1 - 2 players, 600 Wii Points): Taito's timeless puzzler comes to WiiWare with 135 stages of bubbles to bust, along with two already-available content packs (no word on price) that add on an additional 270 stages. If you're the type of person who opens a package just to pop the bubble wrap, this may be right up your alley.

  • Heracles Chariot Racing (Neko Entertainment, 1 - 4 players, 800 Wii Points): Yup, it's chariot racing, spanning three different racing cups across 10 courses, all set within five mythic landscapes. Somehow we think it won't be as exciting as Ben Hur, though.

Virtual Console

  • California Games (C64, 1 - 5 players, 500 Wii Points): The Golden State holds its annual competition with California Games. We should point out that aside from featuring an eclectic mixture of sports to compete in (all of that hacky sacking you've been doing at college is about to pay off!), California Games has a frisbee. And it's super fun.
