NintendoWare Weekly: My Life as a Darklord

This week, Square Enix's WiiWare follow-up to My Life as a King finally releases. We've heard favorable things about My Life as a Darklord, but could it be worth 1,000 Wii Points? While we can't answer that yet (mostly because weekly content doesn't unlock until 12pm ET), we will say that if it's anywhere near as fun as My Life as a King, it's probably going to be worth keeping an eye on.

DSiWare

  • Art Style: ZENGAGE (Nintendo, 1 player, 500 Wii Points): Another puzzler in the Art Style series. The focus of this entry in the series is to slide pieces of a puzzle to match their color with the corresponding bead on the game board. It's pretty much just matching colors, and features 100-plus stages of color-coordinating action. Think of it like picking out outfits with your mom at the mall when you were a kid. The object is to survive.

WiiWare

  • My Life as a Darklord (Square Enix, 1 player, 1,000 Wii Points): Things are a bit different for a Darklord than a King, as the second entry in the My Life as a series from Square Enix has you playing as one devious daughter. You travel throughout her tower, installing traps and destroying wave after wave of ne'er-do-evils.

  • Battle Poker (Left Field Productions, 1 - 4 players, 800 Wii Points): As opposed to real Poker, where players battle one another, the enemy in this iteration of the classic card game is more timeless: it's the clock! Players take on a ticking timer in an attempt to make the best hand possible. Okay, you play against the other players too, but leading off with that would've ruined our poorly constructed joke!

  • 5 Spots Party (Cosmonaut Games, 1 - 4 players, 500 Wii Points): It's all about spotting the differences in two near-identical pictures with 5 Spots Party. It's like those games you always see at the bar, except you probably aren't drunk in your living room playing this. If you are, you have a larger set of problems to worry about than the differences between two photographs.

Virtual Console

  • Nothing (Nintendo, 1 player, 0 Wii Points): Seriously, there's absolutely nothing on the Virtual Console this week! We have no idea how we're going to do VC in Brief now ...
