Toshiba's added to the ever-expanding offering of 500GB external drives with its newly released HDDR500E03X. The USB 2.0, 2.5-incher is on offer in a totally sweet array of colors, and comes pre-loaded with NTI Shadow backup software. It's available now for somehwere in the vicinity of $140.

Dang it, i just bought a 160G for 60$ too :(
You are one dumb motherfucker, he's talking about two and a half inch drives, not just some old 3 and a half incher that needs to be externally powered.
YOU HAVE BALLS!
@Tom
Good Luck putting that on a pocket size USB enclosure without an external power cord.
$140 for a 500GB is damn nice.
And these Toshiba external HD got awesome user reviews on amazon and newegg.
I just bought the 320 gig Toshiba for $90 or so and it's fast, reliable and looks great. Haven't used the built in backup software yet, but I want to add to those good reviews that these Tosh externals rule. And I've been a die hard Western Digital fan since the 90's!
To bad I didn't wait, I could have used the 500gig!
Hey, don't be mean. With parachute pants, you'd be amazed what is pocketable.
gonna be in the market for one of these drives soon to back up my music and pictures from another external powered drive. what do you guys like better, but performance and liability toshiba, maxtor (which is who i have for my external and love it) or WD. I need something that isnt gonna fail, i mean who would want that. any suggestions
The Seagate FreeAgent Go drives are far more useful, solid, and beautiful compared to these new Toshiba portable external HDDs. Plus they come with better included (optional) software and a 5 year warranty. I'm so glad I found out about Seagate's drives.
