Netgear Digital Entertainer Elite interface hands-on
One very patient Netgear rep took us through the interface of the new Digital Entertainer Elite while we feverishly snapped images of every menu blade. Not every one was a keeper -- expect a few gaps here or there -- but this should provide you ample impressions on how you'll be cruising around on this thing.

I had one of their previous media players. Sold it on ebay for a loss after a month. Extremely poor capabilities and poor tech support. What's funny is how the interface looks like a copy of a Mediaportal plugin. I'll stick with my HTPC as I doubt the codecs are any better than the previous incarnations.

Yea, the older one had pretty limited media support. This new one lists pretty much everything. So it is possible that Netgear did it right this time. As long as it plays my downloaded shows and ripped movies, I am set.

"Welcome to the Real World" of overpriced entertainment.

Eat sh*t popcorn hour, you've been replaced by Netgear.
I am allowed to say this. I have a crummy popcorn hour box that is near worthless.

Junk-
Why don't you like the PCH? I have one on order and am curious.

These photos show how stuck set-top boxes are when slogging through tons of content. Too much text, too many levels -- can you really use 1000s of Internet radio channels that way? Most if these interfaces are terrible.

I like that it supports ISO but I wonder how it built up the library with dvd covers.
