Sanyo ducks under $2,000 again with 1080p PLV-1080HD projector
This ain't the first time Sanyo's slipped in just under the two large wire with a 1080p beamer, but it's no less proud the second go 'round. Announced here in Vegas, the PLV-1080HD is a Full HD projector with a lens-shifting system for flexible placement, a variable iris, two HDMI 1.3 inputs, a 10,000:1 contrast ratio and 1,200 ANSI lumens. $1,995 gets you in, and it's shipping right now.

You forgot to tell, that there is no warranty on this one - and every other SANYO beamer. The only thing they cover is the mainboard, which nearly never breaks. Better go out and buy PANASONIC or anything else.
DLP? LCD?
Probably 3LCD at this price point, Sanyo doesn't seem to bother with DLP at this price point.
Is it just me, or does the color reproduction of most consumer-grade DLP projectors really suck? I've never seen a home/office DLP projector that looked nearly as good as an LCD display. Strobing color wheels, ugly white points, etc... At this point I'd rather it be 3LCD.
At that price most likely LCD.
It is the same as the plv-z700, been available at best buy for a while. Engadget has some of the worst coverage of the projector market of any gadget blog.
Best Buy has had this since August. It's 1399 there right now. 1399 for up to 300" 1080p? aww yeah.
1200 lumens? I'll pass; I prefer watching movies in any room BUT my windowless master bathroom.
$2,000 is way too expensive for a 1080p projector in 2009.
You could build a homemade one in 2007 for under $1000.
It's probably still that expensive to cover the overhead that's involved with producing that projector, just probably haven't sold enough
