Brando's USB Digital Microscope is perfect for at-home cell studies
If you're too strapped for cash to afford a real-deal microscope, and your expired college ID won't get you into the lab any longer, why not pull the trigger on Brando's USB Digital Microscope? Described as "amazingly easy to use," this here 'scope can be utilized for "various applications such as science and engineering work and study, dermatology (skin / scalp) exams, detailed repair and assembly." Or, you can just use it as "a reading aid." Which is a fantastic idea if you actually don't want to read anything at all. Anywho, sure sounds like bundles of fun for just $75.

The cool thing is not just that it's handheld but it's also cheap.
Celestron has a very very similar (if not the exact same) thing http://www.celestron.com/c3/product.php?CatID=31&ProdID=557

Actually kind of cool.
Too bad it's not on a moving, mini crane/arm,
to make your motherboard look like the Death Star trenches!
(Yes, I've always wanted to do that... *ahem*;)

If your going to use this as a reading aid when not just download the book somewhere and just read it on your computer? Your going to be looking at your screen if you use this anyway so why not?

Best Buy sold a USB microscope circa 2000-2001 with Intel branding on it. I picked one up for cheap when they went on clearance, and it wasn't half bad, just for kicks at least. This Brando one however, aside from looking more like a real tool or instrument than a toy, has the name Brando. Brando for Jor-El's sake!

This one has HD resolutions though, that's to all the people that compare it to grainy 640x480 version from yesteryears.
Mind you from the examples I don't believe the 200x magnification claim.
