Samsung Q1EX tablet shows itself, gets detailed

This unassuming little tablet somehow managed to slip under our radar at CES, but the folks at UMPC Portal did thankfully manage to snap a few pics of it, and dig up a few details. Dubbed the Q1EX, this followup / compliment to Samsung's Q1 series of UMPCs ditches the usual QWERTY keypad in favor of a full-on 7-inch touchscreen, and gets backed up by a VIA Nano processor, along with built-in Bluetooth, GPS, and WiMAX, among other standard tablet PC features. Unfortunately, there's no word on a price or release date just yet, but if Samsung's past track record with the Q1 is any indication, you can expect to see a whole slew of different incarnations before all is said and done.

It's funny because it's true.

what's the resolution? UMPCs have been too expensive, only if it were as cheap as netbooks, it would have been as successful...

I took that picture since I took it with an iPhone I changed the resolution to be lower (larger/better for the low res camera I had) than the native one for that picture, I think I set it to 800x480 for that picture. Trust me though it was a bit of a hassle to get that website up without ANY onscreen keyboard nor any open Wifi anywhere real near to Samsung's HUGE booth. But was finally able to, few mins before they closed on Sat.

Is it just me who is baffled by the insistence of UMPC users to run XP?
Light linux's (weird pluralizing) do the internet.
They do word, spreadsheet (if thats really what you buy a tablet for)
They dont hog so much power, so you can relax the spec a bit and save money all round!

UMPC = business oriented = Windows
MID = consumer oriented = Linux
Nice to see Samsung went all out on designing a new case for this thing. *cough*

They still have to stupid status lights right in your face. Way to go incompetent designers, Samsung. I had a q1u, it was a really nasty little near-unusable system that was worth maybe $500.

I purchased a Q1U-EL a couple months ago and absolutely love it. It's the "cheapie" model that does not include bluetooth, SD card reader, fingerprint reader or cameras. Still, it was $520 brand new on eBay. Great deal.
