Designer Chumby up for sale: $600 never seemed so functional
Apparently Sara Antoinette Martin is quite the artist, and either her or Chumby (or both) are mighty, mighty proud of her handiwork. Available now for those unaffected by things like global recession and public opinion, the Designer Chumby pictured in the gallery below can be had for $599.95. Functionally, it's exactly the same as the vanilla Chumby -- which, by the way, sells for "just" $199.95 -- but we dare you to convince us the bragging rights attached aren't worth the extra four bills. Okay, we're convinced.

What the fuck is this?
Are you insulting Chumby?!
i'd never buy this thing for $600 even if it played crisis, had copy/paste, cut cake, blend or wutever u guys come up with everyday,,,
Still waiting for HUSTLER® branded Chumby.
i like it! But it needs Bluetooth 2.1
Mmm, that'll sure wake me up.
Creepy.
But what does it do?
And people still complains that a PS3 it's too expensive. WTF IS THIS?????
Hey, I think it's kind of cute.
If it's hand painted and unique, then great. It'll suit someone out there.
nice advertisement
Wow! That's weird! I've never felt the urge to buy a Chumby and a rarely buy anything off ebay but now I want to buy a Chumby off ebay...
Stop messing with my head Engadget!
Chumby needs an update.
Looking for a Tele Darren? I can totally hook you up.
Are they fish with girls heads?Or girls with fish hair? That my friends its the real question. THAT...and what exactly this artist was consuming while doing this project.
on a side note: Holy crap that's NOT cheap!
Loved my chumby, but who want to see that first thing in the morning?
jeez....kinda ugly. I don't think I'd pay $600 for a custom painted chumby, but I would *definitely* buy a $199 plain vanilla chumby again! Waking up to Pandora every morning rules!
I want to love my Chumby, but it has the worst, wonkiest touchscreen I have ever seen. it takes forever to just get the most basic of settings changed.
for the love of all that is holy, WTF IS A CHUMBY?
$600 seems a fair price to me given that it's hand-painted by the artist, limited edition, and comes with other original art, but I do kind of wonder about the wisdom of bringing out such a premium product in this economy.
