HP issues software update for MediaSmart Server
It's been forever and a day since HP issued a MediaSmart Server update, but now -- at long last -- owners can suck down some more new software in order to implement a few minor changes. The HPMSS-1.3-R1 update adds in a Rollback feature, improves image processing performance in HP Photo Webshare, corrects error messages displayed using SSL and TZO certifications and removes unnecessary temperature sensor displays. Give it a go and let us know how things turn out, will ya?

Cool
I'll grab this when I get home
Booo HP. Give us some of the new software features. Im about to buy a ex470 and i hope i can get at least some of the new features of new servers.
I just wish this was the Mac Support Update..... the one thing that would make my Media Smart Server complete. It will probably be another 3+ months until the next update. Boo Hoo. Come on HP start delivering.

I disagree entirely. If you leave the Windows ecosystem then you should make do with whatever alternatives are available.
As it is there's too much Apple-related, non-removable bloat on the MediaSmart servers like the iTunes server. I don't need it taking up space and slowing down my server and would love to have the option to remove it. Why do I or the majority of people need Time Machine support slapped onto this as well? If you want this then get Apple's solution.
I guess I am the normal lazy mac user... I just want it to work.
You can disable all that iTunes Mac stuff and why not have Mac support? I know these Mac clowns should suffer buy paying through the ass for expensive Apple hardware when a MS product can do the same for Windows users at a fraction of the cost. But how progressive of MS and HP to market and support these Mac people beating Apple at their own game. Everyone who isn't a Mac freak knows Apple would be dead today without the MS bailout.
All I get is "No updates found". I'll try again later
You have to retry a couple of times. eventually it will say that there is a download available. I had to try three times...
Awesome. Will be updating in a minute. Best hardware purchase of my life. Who wants to manage data between 3 laptops and 2 desktops when a server will give you managed access and back everything up for you automatically? All this besides backing up each machine in your house automatically. This product is "win" all around. Now I put a nice 32GB fast SLC SSD in my primary laptop and it flies. Leave the data storage to machines designed for that.
Installed the update. Doesn't really change anything major.
Installed it, and one of the temperature status is gone. Why? Sometimes I do want to know the CPU AND ambient temp. I don't see any other visual changes. HP, where's my Mac backup feature?
It's gone because it was reporting backpane data and it was faulty. Alot of people got temp warnings that really didn't mean anything. Do a search on one of the forums.
Screw it. Build your own server. Cheap. Low power.
And use FreeNAS as your server os. Works like a charm.

1) No IT Management Utility
2) No Encryption
3) No password forcing to end user.
Any CIO, or Network Engineer will notice the Security Ramifications this can cause.
No, no, and no iPhone for you.
Surprised people aer having downloading problems. I installed it quickly and painlessly last night around 930 PM. PST
Been trying for 20 minutes... Can't get the download. Anyone able to download it recently?
