Portable Wii mod renders this Wii portable, modded

Better keep an eye out, Mr. Heckendorn -- we know that the modding community is pretty cut throat -- just like the Ice Pirates in that movie, uh, Ice Pirates -- and now it looks like there's another young hotshot on the scene. Fifteen year old modista Xteaphn (that's pronounced Steven, folks) has a little sideline going on custom-made portable hardware, with several mods to his name -- including this pint-sized, battery-powered Wii. The thing is tiny -- it's dwarfed by a 13-inch notebook -- and a full charge will give it about an hour of play. Stunning video after the break.

Nice job. I can see the showdown now tho
Ben Heck: Steven....I am your father!!!!
Steven: Nooooo!!!
I thought the answer would be yes!
Think of all those portable game consoles :D
from nowherelese, no ?
"and a full charge will give it about an hour of play"
Pretty much as long as anyone plays it for anyway, before getting bored
If you don't have anything nice to say...
say it louder:P!!!!
Now put a touchscreen on the bottom of it and you've got yourself a giant DS. NICE MOD Kudos to you!
Man, I wish I was that skilled when I was 15 D:
Great icon Stu! Stretching Mario's face may have been the greatest feature of Mario 64.
he really should learn how to present his stuff better... a kitchen table would be a huge step in the right direction.
it's all about presenting yourself as a professional Mr. Xtgfhfdbgfdhgfndjgf (pronounced Steven)
This guy did not do shit. All he did was plug in an off-the-shelf screen you can even buy at walmart: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5607980
So, somebody plugged a wii into a screen, by following the instructions on the box... Then plugged in a 12v battery pack.
Seriously Engadget, you guys are really sucking in terms of checking your mods out lately.
OMG lol fail. Not even a mod. Hey Engadget... I still have my PSONE with screen? Can you do an article on that?
LOL forgot to mention. My SEGA Game Gear external battery pack will power it for approx an hour as well.
i agree with you on this one. i see nothing special here. so if i add my gamecube screen to my gamecube and the battery i got off the shelf then i would get a post on engadget
"Better keep an eye out, Mr. Heckendorn --"
Epic fail Engadget, epic fail.
my little brother got this for X-mas lol
this isnt even a mod
! WiiBook !

Poor unoriginal bastard had to resort to using goofy letters to represent his real name instead of coming up with a clever screen name all together. Dead_Rebel is a fine choice, for example.
It's just a wii. Who cares? Ohh I modded my toaster. Pics after the break.
...oh dear. Epic fail Engadget.
How about not bashing on the kid. At least he is smart enought to give it a try. What were you losers doing at the age of 15 huh?......having sex?.....oh......well.......that's actually a LOT better....um.....sorry. *scampers off
It's not the fact that it's a bad looking mod or anything, its the fact that it isnt a mod at all. Look at the prices posted: even when you send i your wii to be "modded" he claims it costs $249. the screen he uses costs $150. you CANT tell me a 12v battery pack and labor adds $100... Fact of the matter is that this kid is a fraud. Look at the videos of his ps3 laptop. He never shows the ps3 because its probably one of those cheap lcd screens you can buy for the ps3 too!
Not only the mod not exactly a mod.. but it has to be said the "13.3"" laptop actually has a 14.1" screen. Although with very little bezel, so in terms of footprint it's barely more than say, a dell m1330.
Palmer is correct, this is nothing but a NORMAL, UNMODIFIED wii, a battery pack and off the shelf LCD addon, the kids "psone portable" is much the same. the fact that this got posted on engadget is a joke lol
Maybe I'll post some grainy photos of an LCD shoved into a PS3 and get posted on Engadget!
Senator, you're no Jack Ken...errr, Ben Heckendorn!
This just in: I modded my PC by plugging in devices that allow me to control it with my fingers!
Thanks for reminding me why I shouldn't scroll below the fold. Same thing you Engadget followers do with every single article; bash Engadget for writing it in the first place.
Of course, you do enjoy Engadget at some level or you wouldn't keep coming back to bitch some more. Either you are jealous that nothing but your smarmy comments ever get published here for the world to see, or you read way too much into every headline.
This post, for example, claims nothing but a modified and portable Wii. Which of 'modified' and 'portable' is remotely untrue, let alone a "giant fail Engadget?" This is one *hateful* crowd.
Maybe Engadget would do well to run portable mods by the Benheck community to see if, you know, it's an actual mod. "OOooooh, I connected batteries! And a completely unmodified screen! Screw making a new case for it!"
well my wii dont run a batteries so i would call that a mod, it may not be up to your unrealistic standards but that dont make it any less a mod and hell if anyone lived up to bencocks i mean benhecks standards them losers would have girl friends but no one does so they dont. say Life of Brian your a member there right?? lol loser
i modded my 360 by plugging in a flash drive and listening to music during halo
I MUST BE A GENIUS
