I would take any one of them over the boring black touchscreen crap we have here these days.

And have you bothered looking at the specs? Call me when an American phone has an 854x480 screen, a TV tuner, built-in CD ripping, and an 8.1 megapixel camera in a clamshell design with proper buttons. Not to mention decent call reception - KDDI phones are like talking on a landline (ditto for DoCoMo).

Why do people say we are so behind in phones when compared to Asia? If this is any evidence, all they have are a bunch of colourful dumbphones.

Try actually looking at the specs. Their "dumb phones" are about five times more powerful than our "smart phones".
