Capcom profits down 95 percent for much of '08

Here's a lesson from the Joystiq School of Business, offered absolutely free as a service to our readers. If you hold off on releasing your major games until 2009, your 2008 is going to look pretty shabby. The lesson has been demonstrated to us this morning by Capcom, which reports that when comparing the last nine months of 2008 to the same period in 2007, sales were down 8.6??? ???percent and net income dropped ???95??? ???percent.

It's rough news, to be sure, but this should in no way be considered a death knell for the House That Mega Man Built. We've played Capcom's offerings for the near future -- like Dark Void, Resident Evil 5, Street Fighter IV, etc. -- and the next few months are looking very bright indeed.
