Whipping up some numbers to report, Konami announced
that its net income for the games division during the first three quarters of the fiscal year reached ¥13.3 billion ($148.3 million). The figure represents a 5% increase from the same time last year; however, for its full fiscal year, the company estimates to bring in ¥18 billion ($200M), a slight decrease from last year's ¥18.5 billion ($206.3M).
The financial fortunes in the division were driven by (gasp!) Metal Gear Solid 4
and the Pro Evolution Soccer
series. With all the negative news coming out of other publishers
, Konami's ability to weather the current global financial crisis is about as good as it gets.
