Report: Rare cuts 12 positions from art, engineering teams

Rare announced a couple of days ago that it was planning staff cuts, now GI.biz brings word that around a dozen employees have been let go. The reductions were made in the art and engineering groups, with project leads also being asked to reapply for other positions within the company. Rare declined to comment officially on how many employees it sliced off.

Remember, though, this is all "part of the plan." Microsoft, which owns Rare, is expecting serious layoffs over the next year, but won't discuss details. The Redmond giant does, however, insist that "exciting" new IP will remain its focus.
