$1.49? Engadget... learn that "a buck" means 1 dollar... not one hundred. That would be "a benjamin".
Buck also means $100 when it is obvious it is not 1 dollar.
You obviously don't bet with a bookie! A "dollar" = $100.
Cool people living in any decade after the 80s know a buck can equal $100... I mean, come on, no one thinks this drive is $1.49... I suggest watching MTV for an hour a week to learn what the kids say nowadays.
Hell, I'm a Brit, and even I just accepted it as a colloquialism.
Just because something is widely understood or accepted does not mean it should be used. Referring to $100 as a 'buck', 'benjamin', or 'hundie' will not make you cool or make that girl you've been ogling at for the last hour think you're cute.

we couldnt recover any of your hard drives data, but we did recover a bunch of boats.

It's not the largest drive but it's certainly a much better deal than the 2TB drive.
Now if only Nvidia or ATI would take some proactive steps on using less energy. Maybe then i wouldnt have to buy a 1kW PSU!

Anything that use less power (thus less heat) is great. My drobo and Windows Home Server are always ready for some snacks.
Hard drives that use less power do not by default create less heat. Silicon creates heat as waste from electricity usuage, reduce the electricity reduce the heat however hard drives create heat through kinetic force, those spinning platters create the heat not silicon so reducing power isn't going to have the same measureable effect.
Why care how much heat does your hard drive actually create? my system is almost silent thanks to plenty of Zalman copper, and silent fans none of my hard drives make that much heat.
Hopefully this comes in around $100. I'll get them for my HTPC. Already rock the low power processors in it.
I love how this is a green eco drive. Being less bad for the enviroment does not make something green or eco, it's still bad just not as bad.
I would love to check this drive out right this second but can't find anyone who is actually selling it yet. c'mon new egg!
This is good news since the disastrous Seagate 7200.11 1.5GB is in need of more alternatives.
