iriver P7 does the unboxing thing
We thoroughly enjoyed our CES hands-on time with iriver's slick P7 PMP, but it looks like the touchscreen player is starting to make it out to the wild -- check out these unboxing photos. We're not sure why iriver's chosen "like a magazine" as the tagline here, but we're pretty anxious to get one of our own to try and figure it out.

Why do you need it :S Cant you just use a computer?
Why does someone need a laptop? Cant they just use a desktop?
Your logic is flawed. :)
Desktops aren't portable :) Actually I dont think that things portable either... I cbf to click the read link :P. But why pay for that when you can just use what you already have
It's a PMP. That means (P)ORTABLE (M)EDIA (P)LAYER. It's a device you carry around to watch movies, read .PDFs or listen to music. Don't be slow.
Why do you need a cellphone :S Can't you just use a landline ?
See what I did there ?
Why do you need a spaceship :S Cant you just use a car?
re: "Like a Magazine." If Kindle is "like a book," the P7 is like a magazine. Hope this helps.
That's not what iriver means at all. "Like a magazine" refers to its magazine like interface.
the difference between books and magazines is that magazines have more pictures than just plain text. it's more colorful and visually stimulating than say a kindle, which is like a book.
Iriver,.? Browser will blow ! Guaranteed. Will be mediocre at best compared to iPhone/ipodtouch. We all know it.
You can't compare the iPhone/iPod Touch's browser with the P7's because the P7 doesn't have one. This device doesn't even have Wi-Fi (and it doesn't need it because it doesn't have a browser).
I think you're confusing iriver with Archos. Troll.
Seriously , who would trust iriver brand over apple brand,.? Someone seriously uninformed or 3rd world.
Speaking of uninformed....
Have you ever owned an iriver product?
Then GTFO of this post.
I've not read much about this but the standard answers to that question would be:
Anyone who didn't want to be tied into itunes
Anyone who just wanted to drag and drop files onto their device
Anyone who wanted to be able to play OGG Vorbis files
I hope they've maintained all that with this device.
You don't need to learn Morse code to change the volume?
Apple is not the only player in the world. Get used to it. and stop using every post about a non Apple product to salve your buyer's remorse.
My God , what a jerk
How comes that the more uninformed and ignorant these Apple fanboys are, the more assertive and arrogant they get in shouting their (wrong) opinions?
I really like iriver's design choices lately. This thing looks nice, especially if the battery life is as good as advertised. I wish it had an AMOLED screen instead of the LCD, but it looks interesting...
Bah, it's just a repost of repost from someone from a Chinese forum. This thing is not even available in the US. iRiver is just like Sony, only keeping the good stuff on their own turf/home country. Cowon FTW. :P
Anyone see the back of the device?
What's up with all that writing? is it really necessary?
I can barely read it but it says something like "with P7 you buy something with intuitive display, ecological...blah blah"
next thing you know, they'll put advertising to promote other products...
and they gone the whole Apple route. "designed by iRiver, made in China"
Ignore this spammer.
Getting 'Bad Request (Invalid Hostname)' when clicking the Read link.
As far as the picture...I get a kick out of the fact that he's unboxing the PMP in front of an audio mixer...
im loving the look of that UI.
I'm really looking forward to this one. My H120's hard drive has just died, and after trying to buy a replacement HD twice on ebay and getting the wrong item both times, I think I'm going to wait for this one.
I'm a bit worried about the all-onscreen interface though. I want to be able to switch through songs without having to look at it, like when I'm driving.
I sure hope this winds up in stores in the US. I'm so tired of seeing nothing but crippled/restricted players from Apple and Microsoft.
