Engadget Podcast 138 - 03.20.2009

Take heart, friend, your favorite three podcast hosts are back this week to talk Adamo and iPhone OS 3.0 -- not necessarily in that order, but probably exactly in that order. Listen with unguarded anticipation as Joshua Topolsky reveals his dream PC laptop, Paul Miller mourns his MacBook Air and Nilay Patel cradles his wide assortment of pet peeves, then flip the LP for a rigorous dissection of Apple's latest. It's gadget love (and hate) in its purest, most unadulterated form, and it all can be yours for the price of a single click.
P.S.- Josh was having some audio problems with his setup, apologies for the glitches -- it gets better at the end. We'll get it sorted next time!

First!
Oh goodie.... just downloaded. I hope its full of snarky comments from Josh! :)
I'm sure you know this, Josh, but the occasional wonkiness with you mike is quite annoying. Love the show otherwise, anyway.
Yep... half way through the episode I'm hearing lots of popping on Josh's mic.
Okay, this is ridiculous. First Adam Carolla and Jimmy Kimmel sound like they're recording their podcast in a bathroom. Now this...
Yep, 20:00 to 25:00 during the iPhone chapter is bad but it got better after that.
Josh is bitching about pop-ups while Nilay keeps trying to interrupt him. The irony glorious.
Lucas.
AHH, Fix that bad mic Josh, I cannot stand all the popping and scratching. I seriously have to turn off the podcast halfway through every week.
What happened to the audio at about half way through?
Did anyone else have a hard time getting to the end of this podcast? The annoying noise wouldn't stop. No, not the popping on the microphone, I'm talking about all the whining from Josh about iPhone 3.0.
Usually, I enjoy his smart ass comments, but this time, I just wanted to scream at him.
I am so tired of "editors" from "technology sites" talking about how the iPhone doesn't do what they need. They are so busy that working with the on-screen keyboard slows them down from typing important emails, that the pop-up notifications interfere with the important work that they are trying to get done on their phone, and that it's laggy while they are trying desperately to do the life-changing work that they would certainly be doing more efficiently if their iPhone wasn't so slow.
I have a hope for the future. That all tech people quit bitching about their phone. It's a phone. Yes, it does more than just make calls, but if you want a laptop experience, get a friggin laptop!!!! Or better yet, don't pick your phone because you think it's cool and then bitch that it doesn't perform perfectly.
I hope the Pre lives up to the ridiculous expectations that you guys are setting for it. Not because I want one, but because maybe it will give you something new to complain about instead of the iPhone.
Ugh.,,,,,,,
now whos bitching
oh gah'd...u fail
i guess ur missing the entire damn point. the iphone is hyped by many as the end all, and be all of smartphones. but it has epically failed in so many of the basic "smartphone exercises" until now. I mean, the idea that if you're loading a web page that's taking a while, that you are FORCED to sit there and stare at it, well...that IMO blows. looking @ the pre, winmo, nokia's many symbian phones, and BBs you can switch to emails, send a text, open up a chat app, anything else...well, u get the point.
these are all valid points they made, consider this a venting session, not a bitching session. because every single point they made, were all valid ones.
could you guys post pictures of yourself or something. i mean all i can see in my mind is josh talking doing 3 different voices and tapping his mike when he wants to.
The best thing about this podcast was the intro/outro. that was awesome. sorry this is a week late.
