Samsung's NC310 netbook with claimed 11-hour battery
Oh look, a "new" netbook. New on the outside anyway. Within, Samsung's NC310 offers the typical 1GB of memory, 10.1-inch LCD, 160GB disk, 5-hour battery, 802.11b/g WiFi, 1.3-megapixel camera, HSDPA data, and WiBRO (mobile WiMAX) too if you live in SoKo. A claimed 11-hour enhanced battery is certainly intriguing and perhaps Sammy's got a surprise or two in store with the unannounced processor, graphics, and price when the NC310 goes global "pretty soon," according to Akihabara News. Available in teal and mauve because country kitchens motifs never go out of style.

OMG those casings are hideous. No man is going to carry a baby blue or off red netbook so there goes one market segment.
With a logo that big, i would expect a fee to be payed into my bank account each month for advertising.
The black ones that is also in the picture?
lol those look like laptop cases, not laptops
''With a logo that big, i would expect a fee to be payed into my bank account each month for advertising.''
the logo looks big because the size of this netbook is small. Put that on a 15 or 17 inch let see if it still looks big.
Is Sammy the only company that puts logo at their products? Others do it too, but I know one which notoriously loves to put a logo of fruit and give it a high tag price.
Yeah but extruded logos are hard to hide, and yes if you put it on the side of a USS nimitz it'll look tiny too, but it's not it's on 80% of the side of that thing.
As for the color, I bet some rapper would carry it and then it would suddenly be acceptable for hordes of people, which leads to the conclusion that people that are afraid of color are afraid to express themselves and try to blend in/away timidly, that's not too manly is it?
That photograph is composed of 100% adorable.
Surprising she's not Asian. Nice work Sammy.
Slightly on the anorexic side though, perhaps worrying.
So, which is it 5 or 11?
It would be totally awesome if it was 11.
Why don't they just make it go to 10 and just make 10 louder?
@Jason: But these ones go up to Eleven!
I'm pretty sure I'd think of a sponge every time I were to use one of these. Besides that, the specs - well the connectivity options anyway - are pretty impressive for a netbook. If Sprint and Clearwire ever manage to get Clear to the masses, I'm sure this will be a hit, but even if they don't, HSDPA is always available through AT&T.
On a side note, I was caught off guard by a Caucasian woman showing this off.
you know, that struck me odd as well.
I rather hope the Lady comes with an 11 hour battery because i would like to use her heavily.
The king of subtle here.
The lady is my sister you garbage and she would never do it with your stinky fat face,
OK... she is not my sister but shes somebody's sister !
Look at her fingers! If I didn't know better I'd say her hands had mutated and grown into each other, either that or she has fins... I'm sure it's due to this being an unfortunate snap. I would hate to hurt her feelings should she read this blog.
If she does indeed have fins, then I should not be regarded as mocking her disability, but she should give up modeling and pursue a career with a more aquatic bias.
I wonder if my attempt to bring political correctness back to my posting will result in a lifetime ban from commenting? Perhaps I should start signing off like a HYS lunatic.
@Bellzebub
It's not cool to make fun of peoples disabilities when they're otherwise that attractive. Just like the lady with half and arm with a nipple for a finger on cbeebies here in the UK.
She looks really happy. I like that. I'd love to meet her at an airport and talk about Samsung products.
Talk about Samsung products at the airport??? WTF? Have you ever had any?
I'd like to slip my Tube Steak into her mouth in the airport bathroom.
Speaking of 'Have you ever had any?'...
Of course I have! I've had two samsung mobiles (which were excellent) and I currently own a samsung TV and monitor (which are in the process of being excellent). I'm well qualified to discuss her goods.
@ J_G: Well played sir. You get a vote up!
Yes, her fingers are morbidly grotesque. I'd rather her be an amputee.
@DR House
It only matters that she's not my sister.
bigger logo longer battery, take a hint apple (oh yeh apple waists battery on that obnoxious logo)
Bullshit, the logo on the back is lighted by your LCD-Screen, turn the screen off and you won't see a lit apple logo ;)
Just turn a light on in a dark room, with the computer turned off. Hold the logo up to the light, and it will show through on the display.
Not sure if that made any sense. The display and the logo use the same light source.
is this KIRF to hp mini series?!!!
5 or 11 hours? make up your mind, sammy...
"has 5hrs of battery life (11hrs on the enhanced one)"
See, what the person who posted the article was doing was referencing something in the linked article. If you had half the brain to click the link and read the article...
Is this using an Intel or VIA processor? How is Samsung able to get that kind of battery life out of a netbook?
You can make out the Intel badging on the black netbook. Probably an atom, but I can't imagine how it'll yield 11 hrs.
When the 1000HA and MSI Wind U100 were claiming 5 hours of battery life, Samsung claimed 8 hours with the exact same battery and they delivered. Samsung works magic.
Looks like samsung were fresh out of korean chicks...
Wow, looks like soap.
Probably shouldn't drop these either...
Affirmative action at work in the gadget waif world... how else can a blond Caucasian break into a market dominated by Korean chicks?
Samsung could use an ARM processor to achieve 20 hour battery life and sell it for $199, but they won't.
And they'd also be able to run Windows XP. Oh wait..
You can run Chrome and Firefox in Ubuntu for ARM, what else do people need?
Flash videos, skype, open office, gimp all those applications and thousands more cover most things most people need on a netbook.
I was hoping it's an ARM until I saw that freakin' atom sticker on it.
Come on, Pegatron just release those god damn ARM netbooks, Jaunty is just one month away.
Doubles as a swimming float.
Hey ppls i think its a Intel atom processor if u look closer, you see the 2 stickers on the black one at the back, it looks like xp + atom sticker. Also because its a blue atom sticker it looks like its gona be a N-series atom processor.
I think this machine has a revolutionary spec: you can apply ink over that huge logo and stamp giant SAMSUNG logos on your boring white t-shirts.
And it's for free! Well, you have to pay the t-shirt... Anyway, it is a bargain
I'd rather my shirts not say GNUSMAS.
Mirrored, of course.
Ouch, the cases are really tacky! like the idea of the hsdpa slot... the nc10 has something which resembles a usim slot but it has a rubber band over the front!
I'll pass and wait for Ion...
What is the case made of? It kinda reminds me of the old Nokia 5210. It is was made of something similar and as durable, I may consider getting one of these!
