Ad impression report proves the Palm Pre is out there, somewhere
With just over a fortnight to go before Sprint starts selling Palm's Pre, it stands to reason that a few of the units have made their way out into the wild. According to Millennial Media, that's absolutely what has happened, with this month marking the first in which it recorded "initial Palm Pre [ad] impressions." In other words, those lucky few Pre owners (or "testers," if you will) are really just goofing off online rather than testing tactility and radiation output. Good to know.

Is it me only that thinks this Premashine looks like a "Pre"historic
"Pre"paidphone :-)
No for real it is dead ugly black Platic phone, it is much to big,
and its slider will suck and get stuck or broken after normal
usage...
I dont understand why anybody would spend 200 bucks on a P
piece of plastic crap. Add another 1200 Bucks for the Serviceplan...
i just love my 1.gen iPhon, made of Aluminium.
Wai again, does anybody actually know how sleek that Presoftware will
run?
Did you type this on your iPhone's virtual keyboard? Cuz that's what it reads like.
I have to agree that they simply forgot to include microSD slot and its a huge disadvantage.
Other than that its an interesting piece of hardware.
And how is that aluminum iPhone working out for your signal? Faraday cage much?
OMG Shugg.......is that you!!!! Heyyyy buddddy.....
Why is it that only apple gets these middle aged juvenile delinguet fanboys, but no other manufacturer?
"Middle aged juvenile delinguet" because they sound like what a middle aged addmanager would think a juvenile delinguet sounds like.
I disagree. They didnt forget to include a sd card, any idiot would know its value. It had to be a design choice, lack of space type of thing. Who knows, maybe they needed the room for the stronger processor to facilitare multi tasking, but they must have known this would annoy people. Also, its not an ipod like the iphone is, so most people wont carry around Gb's of music. I wish i could, not agreeing with the choice, but it could not have been an oversight,
God I despise Apple fanboys...
@Ari
How is it not like an ipod? It has a music player, video player, and the Amazon MP3 store.
Yeah loser, iphones sucks, loser
Big? Seriously?
Here it is stacked up with a bunch of smartphones:
http://www.rgbfilter.com/?p=268
It's got a smaller footprint than the HTC Touch when closed, and only a little bit thicker.
You guys fall for the same ol' troll bait each and every time, hook line and sinker.
You know you can change your browsers User Agent field right. Right now i'm browsing from my ZunePhone
Exactly. If I wanted to, I could make it look like I'm browsing from a Nokia 3310, or my penis.
Doesn't mean its true though.
Conspiracy theory much? ;)
Somehow I doubt a bunch of people changed their User Agent to say "Pre". I think it's much more likely that since the phone is launching shortly, it's actually been tested on real networks.
like I said, enough
I was going to say. There's quite a few posts that say "the pre is being used". We know, you said that a few hours ago, and a few hours before that.
Oh, buck off! I'm sure then the new iPhone takes over Engadget, you'll keep quiet and drool like all you pathetic fanboys do. Let the Pre have its moment of glory. It deserves it!
They're proably too busy being inunndated with hundreds of hate mails for getting one before anyone else.
Or thousands of hate mails because it's not the iPhone.
Could be both.
I bet they use "hate spam filter" ;)
I just don't see the attraction of this phone. What does it offer that you can't get on another smart phone? The OS is no better or worse than on other phones, the Sprint network basically sucks and to proof it they lost millions of subscribers last year. So whats left?
The OS is the best I have seen, for sure. And as an international customer, Sprint can go screw itself!
Agreed, and do people actually like its Aesthetics?
i would agree with that, but you failed to mention the hardware aspect. It's the first phone since the iPhone to incorporate multitouch gestures.
So you've spent hours and hours using the Pre and webOS to know first-hand that it speaks, or are you just talking out your ass?
But then I'm sure you also engage in vigorous debate over whether Angelina Jolie or Jessica Alba would be better in bed.
The OS is no better? Are you serious? Have you used a WinMo phone before? this WebOS kills Windows Mobile. Seriously...are you on crack?
Sprint offers the fastest 3G network out of all the carriers. So as long as you're not out in the boonies you'll be blazing through internet pages.
I'd love to hear how you think Sprint's network sucks. Is it because it is easily many times larger than AT&T's? Or is it that it is faster than AT&T's as well?
What a brilliant post! I guess you've actually SEEN what it can do to say it's no different than anything else? lol
So I see you got one of those early Pre's since you know how well the OS works? And Sprint's network sucks? That's really debatable because I've been a lot of places where Sprint is the only service that works, same on the flip side. They're network is fast and their pricing is better than pretty much every other service. And to...proof....it, wait hold on that's not right....
It's all about the integration between the applications on WebOS.. If you saw the previously released PRE video clips, you might understand it.
I was waiting for PRE until my phone broke 3 months ago, and I ended up buying a iPhone 3G which I like fairly well. However, I envy those who will have PRE on June 6th.
@Mitch and wshropsh, So you actually have tested that OS and its better than whats on the market today?
@krische, When I was with Sprint it honestly dropped every third call I received. So the numbers of subscribers leaving Sprint has nothing to do with its network and service? I doubt that.
@sk
I don't think the people leaving are leaving because of the network. They are likely leaving because of Sprint's bad reputation for customer service. And up until recently, they didn't really have any good phones either.
Do some searching though, Gizmodo found Sprint's 3G network to be the fastest of the big carriers. And just go the at&t and sprint's websites and look at their coverage map. AT&T's 3G network is like 1/5 the size of Sprints.
To the OP: Have you actually seen any videos regarding the OS? How can you make such ridiculous claims. This OS is by far way above any other out there. Yes, including your Apple's. Youtube is your friend!
Palm has a long history with PDA/Phone geeks, and what they've demonstrated so far is actually pretty impressive when it comes to contact/calendar integration.
Combine that with the "Palm NEEDS this or they go down in flames" and it makes a compelling story. Personally, the OS looks interesting and easy to use. It's interface looks as compelling as HTC's TouchFLO, without having to dig down into the WinMo styles (though 6.5 is an improvement).
My anxiety pills are running out!! Palm get the Pre to the shelves darn it.
If all these people have these phones, how about some more app reviews? I'd like to see more than four or five apps before the phone comes out.
With all these Pre-this Pre-that news flooding engadget, this phone is starting to loose its novelty
Seriously guys, just let it go for few days till launch
Did you just get here yesterday?
Do a search for the release of the iPhone a few years ago and compare.
@Lookaroundyou... Actually, he's been here 4 days, not yesterday... LOL
LoL @ Look_Around_you
I have been here long time but only bothered to register because idiots like u crack me up
"Search a couple of years ago"...
That's a great point - do you think there'll still be so much obsession with the Pre in a few years like the iPhone?
Me thinks not. Enjoy your Pre, you Palm fanboy. Hey, that has a ring to it. I hearby declare you all Palmboys.
@Frankfurter
Maybe not the Pre specifically. But I can see WebOS still being popular. Palm has stated from the beginning that the Pre is not going to be their only phone.
@Frankfurter & GnuGeek
you both just need to be quiet.
But u are just some girl whom no one cares
But i am really waiting for this Pre to come out on some European carriers so that i can shove my iPhone up some arrogant O2 employee's arrogant ass
This is surprising? Engadget's own guy was playing around with one on the Jimmy Fallon show months ago.
Yeah, he appears to have fallen head over heels in blind love.
Pre can do no wrong.
yum Pre O.O
Apple Fanboys are angry that Palm has stolen their thunder and Palm Fanboys are bigging up the Palm well before its launched - which by the way is straight out of Apple operating manual. Take friendless geek offer a device to attract other friendless geeks and watch them multiply.
So Apple Fanboys are now faced with the exact same wild eyed love of a device and don't like what they see - finally you see what most don't like about Apple Fanboys.
I hope the Palm Pre is a blinding success so you Apple Fanboys can cower at the back of Starbucks sipping your lattes in quiet whilst the Palm Pre fanboys are living it up drinking their Frappuccino's.
That coffee analogy was really bizarre.
Haha!
Take that Apple fanboys!
YOU LOSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BTW
When can we expect firefox or opera to be available for the pre?
Is it possible with the mojo sdk?
