DigiCube unveils newest MID, doubles as a giant cellphone
Jkkmobile's gotten a hold of DigiCube's just unveiled MIDPhone-50 at Computex, and we have to say that from the looks of it, it's quite a wild affair. The MIDPhone-50 is a Windows XP, full QWERTY-boasting, touchscreen mid, and a 3.5G mobile phone to boot. The tilting, 800 x 480 touchscreen is 4.5-inches, with mini-USB, standard USB, and microSD slots, plus a docking station with VGA output. Specwise, the phone / MID has an Intel Atom Z-series CPU with up to 1GB of RAM, with Bluetooth and WiFi. The battery supposedly gets a quite sad two hours of life. There's no word on price or availability yet, but there is a video after the break.

That's gonna be my new phone!
That's gonna be your new phone that lasted 2 hrs per charge.
your new phone is enormous and weighs a ton...there are better options out there.
BIT large for a phone, but the product definitely a step in the right direction for folks who don't need a laptop AND cellphone all the time. A little trimming down without sacrificing screen area would be nice.
Did the video mention a camera?
Also, the docking station really ought to have a S-Video or at least composite video out as this can greatly serve as a mini-entertainment console.
And yeah, 2 hours.... NOT!
I think he heard that wrong. I haven't heard of any MID getting less then 4 hours, because of the new low-power Atom processors. They aren't fast (1.3Ghz max) but they all seem to get excellent battery life.
It's like a big Xperia X1 running XP with an extra extender.
And horrendous battery life because it's trying to do to much.
*too
it would be great if there were seperate batteries for the MID and the Phone, so you could keep recieveing calls after you've run out of computing time.
You would think this would be a good device to have Android on
iWant !!! this gonna be my netbook replacement ! hehe
I've always dreamed of a giant cell phone that won't fit into any pocket of mine...
... and a battery that lasts for 2 hours when I'm not talking. Must buy!
phone doesnt need to use windows OS at all and recent news just mentioned that some one doubled lion battery capacity, this is the future.
