Sony Ericsson bracelet phone concept unearthed in patent app
Yeah, we can probably safely leave this one in the file we found it in: you know, the one marked "never going to happen." Regardless, when we spied this little dude on Unwired View, we thought we'd pass along the weirdness. Unearthed in a Sony Ericsson patent application mysteriously dubbed "Mobile Terminal," what we have here is a bracelet mobile phone concept, sort of reminiscent of LG's infamous GD910 watch phone. This one's got some added fun in the form of keys on the side of the wristband for a fuller typing experience. Like we said, it's never going to happen, but that won't really stop us from hoping.

Wow, lol

I dunno... that's alot of commitment to be cuffed for the duration of owning a phone... (haven't worn a watch for years T.G..)
mgsrocks1 @ Jun 18th 2009 7:09PM
Wouldn't be more convenient if it had a touch screen and you can talk through a bluetooth headset? It just seems awkward how it looks.

If they call it the "Dick Tracy" phone and add some sort of video capabilities....it will sell. I am still amazed at how many calculator watches I still see.
Mopo @ Jun 19th 2009 12:35PM
My co-worker wears one and I asked him about it and he honestly thought more people wore digital/calculator watches than analog. I jokingly said maybe he needs to stop going to those geek conventions and see what regular people wear. He did not laugh...

A world of hurt.

and now, 20-somethings year olds' dreams of a power rangers communicator are closer to coming true
Landincoldfire @ Jun 18th 2009 7:23PM
That looks like a rather dumb idea....
Wonder how long it would take to break it?
versionII @ Jun 18th 2009 7:41PM
Cool...(/sarcasm)
at this rate, I'd say in 10 years they'll make a PSP phone
Buddha @ Jun 19th 2009 8:53AM
There already is a fake PSP Phone, my cousin has one lol. It has a NES emulator.
Rambo @ Jun 18th 2009 7:48PM
It looks like a handcuff. We're already shackled to the cell providers, why would we want to be shackled to the actual phone?
MarkCohen @ Jun 18th 2009 8:06PM
*rimshot*

Seriously, this will make you look like a fugitive.

Looks like Sony Ericsson's gunning for the Crapgadget trophy! ;)

In the world of tech, never say never.

"that won't really stop us from hoping."
I was going to say, "Really???" But then noticed Laura wrote this one. :)

this is a good example of innovation taken too far!

I thought I was looking at an electronic toilet seat. And now I think that would have been a better idea.
YenTex @ Jun 18th 2009 11:49PM
can you say "Pip-Boy"?
JohnTech @ Jun 19th 2009 12:27AM
Somebody already invented a device that syncs up with your phone via Bluetooth and lights up/vibrates when you get a call. This patent reminded of such device and is a lot more useful than this.
Darnell @ Jun 19th 2009 1:05AM
WTF? Fail.
Not necessarily in that order.
Dale @ Jun 19th 2009 3:46AM
WTF!
TeddyLikesComputahs! @ Jun 19th 2009 4:55AM
This is actually brilliant! Phones seems to be getting bigger and bigger again. That Iphone is pretty huge in my pocket. If I had that on my wrist, keys and coins can run free in my pockets!!!
superhobo @ Jun 19th 2009 6:27AM
Wrist cancer.
entropy @ Jun 19th 2009 5:16AM
This is so ... well weird.
But think about it. Make that thing pink and put a few stones on it an girls over the world will buy these crappy things just like the colored Notebooks. I can allready hear the slogan: "Its crap, but you can get it in pink" ...
M @ Jun 19th 2009 9:15AM
But can it play Crisis?
Roncore @ Jun 19th 2009 11:51AM
I see a new crapgadget post if this ever comes out.
Erasure25 @ Jun 19th 2009 6:36PM
Innovation sometimes goes wrong, but it doesn't hurt to think outside the box. I am looking for someone to lookout outside of the typical rectangle brick that phones have somehow morphed into.

I can't wait for the Sony Ericsson brooch phone. Now THAT would smell of eggs...

I'm still waiting for the Sony Ericsson brooch phone to come out. Now THAT would smell of eggs.
