Yes, you could just run out and buy a vocoder, but they're kinda pricey and this way is so much more fun! Using an IKEA clock, a fluorescent desk lamp, an HT8950 voice modulator, a condenser microphone and some miscellaneous stuff you're crafty self is bound to have just laying around, you can make one of your own! i built a voice modulator once in an "into to engineering" class out of an fpga board. it was all done with software. wasn't the easiest thing in the world. it took a team of 4 3 weeks to do it.

We had different frequencies and wave forms to mix our voice with.

im pretty sure that thats not a vocoder.

vocoder gets the sound envelope from human voice and applies it to synth sound (in example)
so you have a synth sound with a sound envelope from a human voice.

(and you can get a vocoder in Logic Express for example.)

Gad Get was right to correct their grammar as they were wrong (as are you). In case you don't believe me (and it's clear you're an ignorant douche who thinks he knows everything and tries to correct others' "mistakes" but only succeeds in making himself look foolish) I've put the original sentence below:

"Using...some miscellaneous stuff you're crafty self is bound to have just laying around"

so if the sentence is correct, as you say it is, then it would read like this without the contraction:

"Using...some miscellaneous stuff you are crafty self is bound to have just laying around"

Hmm... "you are crafty self" huh? Doesn't really sound so good anymore does it Mr. Linguistics?
