LG introduces stylish, LED-backlit 22-inch W2286L LCD HDTV
By and large, there's nothing too incredible about LG's latest LCD HDTV. It's 22-inches, can double as a PC monitor, boasts a deceiving 2,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and consumes some 40 percent less power than the average Earth-hating 22-inch LCD. There's also a pair of HDMI sockets, a DVI port and a 1,680 x 1,050 resolution, not to mention an automatic brightness sensor that responds to ambient light. There's no word yet on how pricey the 20 millimeter-thick set will be nor when it'll ship stateside, but hopefully it -- along with its 24-inch Full HD sibling -- will make the trip in short order.

Magallanes @ Jul 1st 2009 11:28AM
@jack1701 she is not so ugly.
Sid @ Jul 1st 2009 12:35PM
LOL, Olive Oyl. Didn't think of it until you mentioned it.
AwesomeWells @ Jul 1st 2009 3:21PM
aye, took me a second to figure it out. popeye's bird, innit.
larryryan0824 @ Jul 1st 2009 10:23AM
Lol why is it always chinese/japanese/korean girls next to the TV's?
something clever @ Jul 1st 2009 10:35AM
because the companies are based in china, japan, and korea?
If there was a monitor manufacturer based in Ireland there would probably be a bunch of pictures of monitors with redheads next to them.
larryryan0824 @ Jul 1st 2009 11:05AM
Red hair is Dutch. There are a lot of Blonds in Ireland. But that chinese/japanese/korean girl could receive it.
Denver_80203 @ Jul 1st 2009 1:48PM
Because gadget guys notice.. as you clearly demonstrate
Jonyah @ Jul 1st 2009 10:26AM
been waiting for led backlit to become mainstream. these will be way too pricey if the viewsonic ones are any indication. why has this become standard in laptops but not desktop lcds?
Andrew Drake @ Jul 1st 2009 10:29AM
For laptops, weight and power consumption/heat output are primary concerns. For PC monitors, these factors aren't anywhere near as important to most consumers.
CtrlBurn @ Jul 1st 2009 10:30AM
Yeah, a 24-inch 1080P (or better yet, 1920x1200) TV with DVI would be perfect. I'd love to have a TV that can be used as a second monitor when needed. I'm surprised there isn't a bigger market for such things.
awbhoops @ Jul 1st 2009 11:52AM
Because 1080p isn't an ideal resolution for monitors.
Darak @ Jul 1st 2009 4:16PM
Samsung makes a bunch of models that do 1080p in a low-mid 20's range. Check out the 2223HD and the Touch of Color 24".
Chaj @ Jul 1st 2009 1:58PM
Surprisingly, LG went w/ a below average looking model to stand next to their TV... Maybe b/c the TV looks defective? i.e. appears to be crooked.
Uchiha Sasuke @ Jul 1st 2009 11:15AM
If you haven't notice, the tilt is part of the tv's stand flexibility. Unlike certain fruit company, this one is an actual feature.
iLoveApple @ Jul 1st 2009 12:02PM
Who the fuck mentioned Apple, Narutard?
iLoveApple @ Jul 1st 2009 12:03PM
And BTW, I think the monitor is leaning like that because the model is way too fat. Bitch needs to go on a diet.
Pitchy @ Jul 1st 2009 10:32AM
while that looks and sounds nice, I have never had one thing from LG worth anything. From portable CD players, to DVD roms, monitors etc... everything I have ever bought from LG has been pure crap. I've had 3 DVD burners show up dead on arrival and I eventually threw my LG flip phone half way across a golf course, then when I found it, I pulled out a 9 iron in frustration. Since then, I refuse to buy anything from LG out of principle. I'm sticking with Samsung and Sony!
Ryujin @ Jul 1st 2009 1:40PM
Though i can't vouch for the other stuff their TV's are nice, I have a 48 inch LG LCD and it hasn't had anything wrong with it for 3 years. Also, it doubles as my monitor when i want to watch movies on it and not one dead pixel.
10minutehobo @ Jul 2nd 2009 8:13AM
You shouldn't throw stuff around so much. That might be the reason they break.
Galactus @ Jul 1st 2009 11:07AM
I'd hit it.
And the girl's pretty cute, too.
Sanskrit @ Jul 1st 2009 12:00PM
And now that we know what you plan to do with the HDMI sockets....
spazzjunk @ Jul 1st 2009 12:44PM
2 sockets makes it more realistic ;)
micklol @ Jul 1st 2009 2:23PM
My TV comes with 5 ...hehehe
mcdj @ Jul 1st 2009 12:23PM
And if it's anything like the 22LG30, which I bought then sold, the autodimming feature, which can't be turned off, will drive you insane.
tothamax @ Jul 1st 2009 4:05PM
Awesome! I been waiting for LED TVs to become smaller. I want to get that 24-incher, plug my PS3 via HDMI, and play games and watch Blu-ray Disc movies on the small screen. And my computer has DVI so I can replace my old CRT moniter with it. Although the red tinge has got to go.
Uchiha Sasuke @ Jul 1st 2009 5:04PM
Exactly! that's probably what most buyers of this smaller type led-backlit tv will use this for. And if I may add, unlike certain fruit company, the screen on this tv doesn't blind you will all the gloss.
daveloft @ Jul 2nd 2009 12:05AM
1680 x 1050 how lame, it should be using a 16.9 aspect ratio like 1920 x 1080.
