Stand-up console plays Nintendo DS and Sony PSP games, somewhat defeats the purpose

Depending in your level of geekness, an extravagant mod can be pretty cool. And arcade consoles are damn near always really cool. But making a stand-up console game out of your beloved Nintendo DS? That is pretty amazing. And throwing in a Sony PSP for good measure -- well, that might just elevate your project to a work of art. We don't have too many technical details on this bad boy (after all, the hacker is in Japan -- and there is a bit of a language barrier) but you we think the video of the thing really says it all -- if not in so many words. Peep it for yourself after the break.

Marvellous stuff!
Grammar engadget -_-
I hate the 'background' music.
I really hate it also.
In a world of heavily modded portable Xbox 360s, we get... stuff like this.
I wish someone would make a portable PSP someday...
why would you want an arcade ds and psp?
there's so many AMAZING older arcade games, it would make so much more sense to get a mame emulator and some (legal) roms and then roll on with the new.
(of note: after 16 years of playing street fighter, going to tournaments and making some great cash, I have finally gotten semi-bored with it....I cried for hours after I realized I did not desire to play the game...)
Someone clearly has far too much time and money on their hands.
I agree - but I think that if you can do it and you want to ... then do it!
Upgrading an old car with all new racing/sports parts is fun but the time and money you spend would probably be enough to buy you a brand new one that has all the bits already on it!?
Is it just me or is it a computer in an arcade stand running a DS and PSP emulator?
There is only one psp emulator available and it can only play 3 titles of the 650 game psp library. I don't know about the ds though.
@Goatsranimals: With you there. Looks like a monitor connected to a computer running DeSmuME. And on Windows, no less!
Actually, he just has a webcam pointing at the screens of the two portables, meaning he could basically make this work with any device with a screen, even those silly games that came in happy meals.
meh I can plug my psp into my 40 inch and I could do that with the Phat psp via PSP2TV... Nice mod tho but not for me.
RAWRRRRR REEPPTARRRRRR!!!!!!
Is that game in the vid for real??? yikes!
Rythm Heaven?
That game is very addictive!
I want to see a DS arcade cabinet, but with something like a 12.1" touchscreen as the lower half, where the buttons normally would be, and a top screen in matching size. It'd be mini as an arcade system, for sure, but it'd still be hella bigger than the current DS, and be fun playing games.
The mod is pretty much just using a webcam to film the Nintendo DS top screen. Top points for ingenuity, however.
That is really stupid. The game isn't in the middle of the screen. And the touch pad is the one from the DS, way to hard to play. Dumb.
A more interesting hack would have been interpreting the signal sent from the DAC to the LCD and putting that on the screen instead of using just a webcam.
Like, say this?: http://home.comcast.net/~olimar/DS/jumbotron/
Now that's a sweet mod.
It would be a bit easier to just use an emulator, though.
Is this serious? A camera is aimed at the ds screen... so the whole purpose of the computer is to run the usb camera? This is a HORRIBLE MOD...
PSP SUCKS COK. ITS NO GOOD DON'T WAIST UR MONEY ON THAT PIECE OF SHIT
