Kodak Theatre HD Player updated with YouTube HD, 1080p support
We didn't have a problem playing 30fps 1080p video on the Kodak Theatre HD Player when we tested it back in January, but apparently we were living on the edge -- the box just got an update officially supporting 1080p playback. There's also now YouTube HD support, some basic web browsing ability, and a few other features in the mix, so all in all it's a nice little update for the $200 box with solid codec support and that nifty gyroscopic Pointer Remote. Current owners should see an option to update to 1.4 shortly, we'd imagine.

Nice.
Paul Fat Kid Chapel is back !!
yeah AppleTV is better because it supports so many video codecs, it allows you to use external hard drive, it supports large internal hard drives, you can use it as NAS..... uuuuuhhhaaaaa Apple !!

Not bad but a bit expensive.
Kodak.com has these for $299 .... is the article referring to a previous edition at $200?
Kodak's listed prices are out of touch with reality -- it's $199 most places and like $175 at Amazon.
Anyone know a good site that has a roundup of some of the bazillion media players available???
anyone know how this stacks up to the Popcorn hour? I'm assuming it has networking capabilities as well?
I second Chris & Victor Stuber's thoughts.
I would suspect PCH is superior for the power user, but maybe something like this is better for those who would like to just plug & play.
Engadget should to do a big roundup of these players.
I am interested in a big roundup. I can read specs all day from various sites, but seeing the interface is what I find difficult at times. Right now, I have a NMT and it works fine, but I'd like to find something with that kind of power/codec support with a nicer UI. I imagine i'll probably just end up getting a future eee box running windows 7 media center, but I'd be interested to see alternatives.
Alternatives:
Asrock ION330 with XBMC Live or Ubuntu XBMC version (linux version, so you can enable VDPAU) on it and if you don't mind the lack of wifi, there is ultimate HTPC - powerful, nice UI, not very expensive, Blu-ray option.
