It's no secret that Sony's
motion controllers were in the works for quite a long time before finally being unveiled at E3 2009. Still, it's fun to look back into the past and see how the whole project evolved. Our buddies at Joystiq have cleverly dug up some slides from a 2001 Richard Marks presentation which describes, among other things, a game called Misho the Witch -- which made use of a ball-and-stick controller to train a virtual pet -- much in the vein of Sony's
just unveiled EyePet. Some other ideas being tossed around were an X-Men branded game based on "superhero properties" and one based around the Teletubbies. Remember them? Yes, this presentation is that old. Oh, the olden days. There's no evidence that any of these ideas went too far beyond the talking-phase, but we'll have to wait and see for sure when the
PS3 Motion Controller debuts next year. One more shot after the break.
I love superheroes, magic, and Teletubbies.. ..YES Teletubbies
btw the purple one is gay...
A year ago, i saw (by mistake) Teletubbies and yes, the purple is too gay.
the vacuum cleaner (noo-noo) consistently fcuks up all their days.
its an amazing show, especially when they make poop noises while drawing shapes.
Sony working on Motion controllers for the past 9+ years. Who'd of thunk it.
Actually Nintendo n Sony have been pretty good sport over this, Nintendo acknowledging they didn't come up with it first n Sony acknowledging Ninty made it popular.
Yep, this is for everyone who was saying "Sony is playing catch up". Looks like they are only catching up to their ideas.
And Natal fanboys will start blaming it in 5...4...3...
GO GO GO
This is actually quite funny, still I find it weird as to the reasoning behind the huge glowy orb.
FYI mocap suits use orbs also...and they prolly know something about capturing motion. Just my guess ;-)
I can't wait to get my hands wrapped around a Sony LoveWand - DualShock. The missus will love that thing!
There is nothing like original subtle jokes.
Casper the Ghost? Oh, because of the movie. Otherwise, it would have sounded more 70s-ish. Then you could have just said "a superfriends game".
I wonder why the top image is flipped from what it was originally.
Not that surprising, actually, seeing as this is the image of yourself you're supposed to see on-screen, a mirror image is much more logical...
shows how dumb sony really is. god i hate them.
Yes, yes, a thousand times yes.
It's because of their arrogance isn't it. The problem for the gaming division, imo is Sony's giving power to the wrong people, instead of the visionaries and the innovators - you know, the guys who come up with new ways to do things.
Look at him and his pre-dildo controller giant ball...I can't decide if the dildo looks more ridiculous or this..thing.
I guess you see what you want to see - where some see one thing you see another ding a ling.
Ah, the crazy early 2000s. Still remember them like they were under 10 years ago.
