Garmin-Asus nuvifone M20 launches in Taiwan, Windows Mobile and all
Following last month's launch of the proprietary OS'd G60, Taiwan's now playing host to the Windows Mobile-based M20 from Garmin-Asus, the joint venture's second model. Local carrier Chunghwa will be carrying the phone, which features HSDPA, a VGA display, 3 megapixel cam, and comprehensive navigation capabilities that earn it the Garmin name -- but it turns out they'll also be launching the iPhone 3GS and Hero in the next few days, a situation that effectively defines the phrase "hostile competitive landscape." Best of luck, Garmin-Asus -- given the Duke Nukem-esque delays you've encountered in your bumpy road to retail, you need all the luck you can get if you want to turn a profit any time soon.

Hard to believe Garmin-Asus is entering the market with aging WinMo? WTF are they thinking? ;)
lol if WinMo is "aging" then what does that make OSuX? Android is a piece of **** that only allows programs to be run on a Java VM.
Thinking they want a piece of the third largest slice of mobile os pie.
Android trails at a distance, along with WebOS.
iPhone OS is still not as prevalent worldwide as WinMo, and thus it too trails.
Only RIM and Symbian have larger pieces of the pie, and RIM by not so much.
Furthermore, you're stuck in some sort of time warp from a few years ago.
WM at 6.5 with the inclusion of Titanium and/or Mobile Shell 3, TouchWiz, TF 3D 2.x, are all much slicker than iPhone's outdated, stale, banal GUI, and WinMo as an OS is still much more robust and capable than the iPhone, which is basically like some sort of duck-taped OS...every 12 months, I see something new being glued onto it, that should have been there 12 months prior. Ever late to the game, and ever pieced together on Jobs' whim.
No thanks.
Android lacks the apps, the ones that really matter to businesses and professionals.
WebOS is too immature to matter at this point.
RIM is too parochial.
Symbian is the one really showing its age, and it too lacks the business/professional apps (which is why Nokia decided to partner up with MS in the first place to bring over much of its business platforms to Symbian).
iPhone is more of a toy than a productivity tool.
So that leaves WinMo.
ahhh, the smell of opinions.
...and that third piece of the pie? true, as long as you don't mind a pile of crumbs, not in a "crummy" sense, rather a fragmented sense. It's not like Garmin benefits from the big ol slice of WinMo pie, they are but another crumb. WinMo sure benefits from it, well I suppose, there are plenty turn by turn applications for said platform already.
Nice colours, looks proportionally chunky though.
WindowsFTW,
You've been smoking WinMo weed for too long. Not even fanboy can deny the fact that WinMo market share is
sinking faster than you could type some shit here. That's just fact! LOL
ew...
My sentiments exactly. Yuck!
Well the iphone plans will probably be over priced like they are here in the stats and I'm guessing the taiwan folks are more price-sensitive than us yanks... so the winmo phone may do very well. Especially since it includes GPS which is a $100+ addon to the iphone (if tomtom is even offered in taiwan).
WHAT THIS IS NOT HOW VAPORWARE WORKS ohh wait, This isn't the real Nuvifone its M20 not the G60 phew balance is restored.
me likey
Looks like an older Palm offering with a paint job.
So... how is that different from an HTC Diamond or Touch Pro (1 or 2) with Garmin XT installed?
This just proves TOMTOM/iPhone is better.
Garmin/Asus hype just ends with WinMO.
No more curiosity for me. This just don't interest me anymore.
Winmo only puts off stupid people that want candy bar phones because they dont have the mental capacity to use more than one app at a time.
Thats why people buy android and iphones! because there stupid!
I want you to think about what you just said: "Thats why people buy android and iphones! because there stupid!"
Yep.
I thought about it before hand actualy!
I stand by what I said but I will rephrase it for you ok?
People that purchased the iphone and any device using android have a sub standard mental capacity, especialy the people that bought the iphone!
I think this phone actually looks great. It seems to have a nice solid, clear cut design. I wish they had it on contract here in the States though.
Launches? I've seen it like 3 weeks ago...around 16000NT
The phone is really light(which is nice) and looks good, but I want a hardware keyboard for my next phone.
