Sony Walkman S Series puts on its game face for video promo
It's not a hard-hitting impressions piece, but if you're seriously jonesing for some good ol' fashioned moving picture technology, here's your first taste of the Sony S Series Walkman in promotional video form, care of Sony Europe's marketing department. We learn it has speakers, it's thin, there's a long battery life, and you can record FM radio... but the things we really want to see, like the stand and its video playback prowess. Bummer, but hey, maybe we'll get our own hands on it later and find out then. Video after the break.

Decent device! Finally Iriver, Sony, Zune produce decent devices and can beat ipod's ass completely!;)
Changes are coming changes are near...
@Engadget
"but the things we really want to see, like the stand..."
um, really? lol
Those who laugh are actually scared of reality and not ready to accept it depending on a situation certainly.
They just hide their fears inside...
Changes are coming changes are near... Are you ready?;)
If you can laugh about it, that usually means you understand it. If you understand it, then there is nothing to fear about it.
I really doubt Badison fears the fact that Engadget wants to see the stand for an mp3 player.
badison knows that the "stand" is actually a key to the gateway to an alternate dimension when terrifying beasts regularly prey on humans and make them their slaves.
@david & horizonsmoke & 10minutehobo
Thanks (dammit! ... +1 especially to 10minute to hobo lol)
I just think that stands aren't that big of a deal. 3rd party companies love to make stands right after the fact too.
:sniff sniff: I-I-I'm so scared...
^typo: errr, thanks to "10minutehobo" especially
what it price?
skf bearings
"but the things we really want to see, like the stand and its video playback prowess."
What happened to the rest of this sentence?
I have 3rg gen nano and where I stand this isn't going to replace it. It's nice no doubt but choosing between ipod and a walkman I'd go with the one designed in california. But it's good to see that the old great one has finally built a walkman that has potential. I think that walkmans' are slowly coming back and maybe someday I'll once again use a proper walkman.
How is this news? I picked up a Sony NWZ-S545 more than two weeks ago at Fry's Electronics here in Las Vegas.
It continues the Sony tradition of outstanding sound quality, and plenty of features for the money, including a new and very usable voice recorder, and speakers.
The 2.4 inch screen is bright and vibrant, though admittedly, the deletion of the cool SensMe Channel feature kind of sucks
Regardless, it's a fine media player at a great price, and offers far more media quality/value than the iPod Nano can even fathom.
... as for the issue of the stand.
It's just a small triangular piece of ABS that slots into two holes on the back of the player.
It not permanently attached to the player, so I don't even bother with it.
The crappiest media player from the crappiest gaming console company. Sony, just go away. You're embarrassing yourself.
Did anyone else read the headline and see this:
Sony Walkman S Series puts on its game face for video pr0n
Does he have a dead tooth? His right of the front two teeth looks dead and somehow I couldn't manage to get past that...
* does it play music gaplessly?
* why are batteries still non-removable, knowing full well rechargeable batteries lose capacity to hold juice as they age?
* is there any new format support, like royalty-free FLAC and Ogg Vorbis?
* why do Sony Ericsson phones seem to offer removable batteries and storage on most of their phones and not the regular Walkman line-up?
* are the headphone outputs still puny 5mW+5mW (into 16 ohms?), making high-impedance, low-sensitivity headphone listening a poor choice?
Will there be any changes in at least one of the points mentioned above?
