Kaleidescape joins the iPhone as a remote party

Number of applications downloaded from the iPhone App Store
After hitting a historic 1 billion downloads, Apple says the store cleared another half a billion apps in the following three months.

Now that we've thrown 'em off the trail, use the form below to get in touch with the people at Engadget. Please fill in all of the required fields because they're required.
This has been out for awhile now....
Why anyone would pay $50k for Kaleidescape is beyond me. For that kind of money you could have a top of the line HTPC on every TV in your house fill it with every movie you could possibly want and hire a AVSForum geek to keep it all working.
Knowing a guy who does programming for Crestron-Kaleidescape I can tell you there there is an endless supply of ridiculously wealthy people willing to pay tons of money to integrate this with their home automation systems, they often buy more than one server as well!
Wow, are you guys going to phone it in today.
Is this supposed to be Engadget or Apps for Your iPhone Today!
And if you can, how about reviewing the Apps that are available for Black Berry, WinMobile, Symbian, and Android too. You know, for the vast majority of users of mobile devices that dont use an iPhone?
+1
Do that really mean it a remote?
I'm realy tired of reading it: Iphone Iphone Iphone ... I'm starting to hate that!
Aren't the companies able to produce nice hardware for themselves... all your remotes etc. are obsolete if Apple jumps on another platform like e.g. the "aPhone" or s.th. else ...
Even Sony has more Accessoires for the iPod than for their own (much better sounding) Walkman MP3 players...
Wrong world ...
I have had this App for a couple of months now, and it works great. While I run Apple TV, and a TVIX in my home media center the Kaleidescape system is by far the workhorse of video distribution. It runs flawless, and the "my wife can run it" without complaints factor is priceless...
or you could just opt for the poor mans Kaleidescape...
Popcorn + YAMJ + iSkin for the iPhone
This is actually cheap. The license to use the Control4 system is like several hundred bucks.
I have a Kaleideskape but I'm never going to get this app. Why would i want to struggle with my small iphone instead of a bigger amx touchscreen remote???
We'd like to clarify that this product is actually made by Remotescape (www.remotescape.com), which is a separate company from Kaleidescape (the blog post is ambiguous).
