Homemade pink Xbox 360 controller makes the ladies say 'heyyy!'
Not that we haven't seen pink Xbox 360 controllers before (including one from Microsoft itself), but this one just oozes class. Constructed by Flickr user 4apples for the lovely lady (ladies?) in his life, he took all the time one would expect a handsome young bloke to take by dissembling it, painting each piece in varying shades of pink and slapping it all back together. Have a look at the read link for the finished project, and naw, we won't tell your special someone if you decide to follow suit and call it an original.

Darling... i asked for a proper colorware one for my birthday! Why are you always so stingy!!!
Will this get me the ladies, in that case I'll take 10
Now we really know what project Pink was.
I thought of that the moment I saw it
I almost thought I needed to put on 3-D glasses
Good Mossberg good :)
They should call Microsoft and mass produce these bad b.. girls..
I like them, but the maker should also make the same thing on the 360 so they would match.
Good Mossberg good :)
1Password is absolutely horrible with Engadget.. :(
Way superior to any official Microscofft color themes. Modders FTW.
Ditto.
im a guy and i want this.
It looks sweet but pink is not my color, maybe neon green to match the whole xbox theme.
/\ i would want that as well
I really like this. It's just perfect and any color would work. Brilliant.
Double true.
Agreed. Very nice work.
Did he change the blue button to 'K' so that it reads KY?
would that seal the deal for ya?
Nah. I thought it looked that way too, but it's just the lighting.
If you check out the Flickr you can tell a little better, and you can see his kickass Black & Orange 360 controller.
For some reason, that controller has made me hungry for cotton candy. Hmm, is there some kind of CC conspiracy going on?
Wow this controller has just given me two great ideas for new controllers!
Pretty in Pink ya'll!
Looks like an undewear.
OMG PONIES!!!
pink makes me puke....
why do they think woman like it.
Because the people writing for Engadget are immature. I don't see anything wrong with guys liking pink. It's just a color ffs.
Why girls only? I think it looks badass.
If it were baby pink with hello kitties I'd reconsider. Although the irony would be tremendously delicious when you work your way up a CoD match with one of those. Fragging rights.
I think when a company does a pink version for girls it's condescending, when a guy does it for his girlfriend, well, she obviously must be one of the ones who likes pink.
Soo, yeah. That's awesome. Looks easy enough to do too.
I'm totally adding neon green to my black controller now.
Do the letters on those buttons say K Y and A B? Maybe that is just my screen.........
no, I see it too. That is what it looks like. initials maybe?
nah, it's definitely 'X'

ah yea, more clear in the better image, normal 'X'
I did this many times with Gamecube and 360 controllers. The issue is that no matter what primer/etcher, paint and clearcoat combinations I tried, the paint job seems to last only for about half year or so. Then, depending on formulation, it beings wearing in the spots of excessive wear, off or chipping at seams and edges.
The only viable long-term solution, in my view, would be to dye your own polyesther and to mold your own buttons and inserts. ColorWare claims they have their own "trade secret" process built on automotive ingredients. I have no idea what it is, but I concur that the straight-up automotive supplies don't last very long.
You ever use Krylon Fusion paint? That stuff bonds to the plastic itself rather than just being a coat. http://www.krylon.com/products/fusion_for_plastic/ It's pretty awesome.
@ Voideka
Thanks for the suggestion!
But, curiosly, I think Fusion was the last one I actually tried, this time only on 360 controller's inserts. I have foregone clearcoat this time, as it seemed that Fusion is formulated with a little hint of single-stage. Maybe I should have added a coat of clear, but my concern was that, as with most "no-prep" formulas, the evaporant in clearcoat may weaken the paint underneath.
Anyway, while the finish looked great, glossy, and durable, over time its bond weakened and it became possible to easily scratch/peel it of with a fingernail.
Maybe Fusion would work better on the controller's shell/housing itself. Those inserts are really slick -- probably made to repel grease and dirt, and, incidentally, any paint.

This doesn't look like 'varying shades of pink' to me!
Maybe you should play with yourself less, Darren!
am i gay because i want this?
Only if they had a pink 360 to go with this
This lady doesn't like pink. Gimme a purple one, and you've got yourself a deal.=D
Ditto on the purple and add sparkly glitters. Glitter FTW!
Do people really care what color their game controller is?
yep.
'heyyy!'
pink on game controller = not big fan
Just a note to the author:
dissembling (pretense): pretending with intention to deceive.
