WRUP: Only in dreams edition

Ah, the weekend. A peaceful time to rest, relax and... well, play video games, of course. So around this time every week, we catch up with the Massively team to find out what their game of choice is when we release them from the office for the weekend. This week, in addition to asking what they are playing, we asked what they wish they could be playing -- what existing franchise they'd like to see get the MMO treatment (at least in dreams). So what are you waiting for? Read on to find out what the Massively team is up to this weekend -- and to join the conversation.

  • Brendan Drain (@nyphur): In EVE Online, we'll be redeploying our wormhole starbase with a new Dread Guristas control tower, which eats less fuel and should save us some ISK in the long run. With all the components for our carrier now built, the week-long construction job on the carrier itself begins today. That should prove useful when people invade our wormhole system again. What IP do I wish were an MMO? I've said it before and I'll say it again, there should be a Pokémon MMO!

  • Beau Hindman (@spouseaggro): I will be playing Chronicles of Spellborn, trying to get some more mysteries solved. And then I will be conquering a dungeon in Mabinogi and checking out the new pets in Free Realms. My dream MMO IP? Sounds silly, but something with animals like Watership Down.

  • Dan O'Halloran: LotRO Volume III Book 1 epic quest line as well as finally being able to solo the rest of the Volume I epic quest line. Still playing Plants vs Zombies on the iPhone and just downloaded Final Fantasy I (yes, the very first one) app as well. MMO world I'd love to see? Oh frell, I'd have have to say Farscape!

  • Eliot Lefebvre: Having just picked out my shiny new Escort in STO, you might think that's where my interest lies... but you'd be wrong. No, for me it's going to be a combination of City of Heroes to take advantage of the double XP weekend, and Fantasy Earth Zero's beta. Although I would like to fit some STO in there if possible, as well as truly and earnestly desiring the opportunity to have dinner out with my girlfriend or something. As for an MMO property, if I'm leaning more toward the mature side of the spectrum, I'd like to see a game set in the Dark Tower universe before the Fall of Gilead. If I'm being totally honest, I'd probably be more enthusiastic to see a well-done Transformers game. (The movie is popular enough. It could work. I have ideas. Call me!)

  • Jef Reahard: Aion and EVE for me. And I'd like to see A Song of Ice and Fire made into a sandbox-style game.

  • Justin Olivetti (@sypster): I'm spending gobs of time in Lord of the Rings Online to the exclusion of all else. My Captain recently reluctantly left the sanctuary of Rivendell for the harsh environs of the Misty Mountains, where I'm finding that pretty much every mob can stomp my face into the ground. IP for a MMO? Harry Potter, for sure. Rowling's world is rich in details and deserves to be explored by every wanna-be wizard or witch, even if it means we have to deal with teen angst at some point.

  • Shawn Schuster (@SSchuster): I found this game in my basement called Stadium Events. It was sealed in the box and looked pretty old, so I opened it. It's not very fun, so I may just throw it in the trash. Other than that, Free Realms with the kids. As for an IP I want turned into an MMO, that's easy: G.I. Joe!

  • Seraphina Brennan (@sera_brennan): This weekend is a weekend of board games with a few friends, seeing my college friends off as they leave for spring break, and packing and preparing for our huge bout of GDC coverage next week! It's going to be an intense weekend! Also, if I could have any IP become an MMO, it would be The Matrix. And yes, I know that it has been done already. They could try again, and maybe this time it would be awesome.

  • Kyle Horner (@kylehorner): It's a weird blend of Allods and Bad Company 2 for me this weekend. Also, I'm pretty sure to spend at least a few hours in Star Trek Online at some point, too. Bonus: Since BioWare is already making Star Wars: The Old Republic, my wish would have to be for Blizzard making a StarCraft MMO. Dreams can come true!

  • Krystalle Voecks (@Krystalle): Not much time to game this weekend, so I'll probably keep it to games I can pop in and out of quickly like Free Realms, Trickster Online Revolution, and Turf Wars on the iPhone. As for IPs, I'd love to see a game set in the Discworld universe.

  • Lisa Poisso (@emused): Continuing a gaming frenzy, as my family helps me investigate a whole mess of games coming down the pipes for future MMO Family features. As for what IP I wish were an MMO, I'm still waiting on a White Wolf MMO.

  • Rubi Bayer (@Rubi_): Fallen Earth. Also Fallen Earth, Fallen Earth, and Fallen Earth.

So, that's what we're doing this weekend -- now it's your turn. What are you playing this weekend? And if you'd like, why not jump in on our discussion? What IP would you love to see get the MMO treatment?
