PSP celebrates 5-year anniversary
Happy birthday, PSP! Today, you're five years old. In that time, you've launched 520 games on UMD, 300 games on PSN, sold over 50 million units worldwide, updated your system firmware over 50 times, and gone through three hardware revisions (2000, 3000 and Go). So, think you have five more years left in you?
To commemorate this milestone, each of the Joystiq staff has listed their two most favorite PSP games over the past five years. Let us know what some of your favorites are!
Staff Picks:
Andrew Yoon (@scxzor): SOCOM Tactical Strike remains my favorite PSP game of all time. I still haven't seen a game quite like it yet: demanding incredible tactical coordination, while still taking full advantage of PSP's capabilities. Gitaroo-Man Lives! is my runner-up, because it has so much heart.
Ben Gilbert (@BigBossBgilbert): I fully completed Ridge Racer (the first one, the one that launched with the PSP) more than twice. That game is a drug. Also, yeah, I'm gonna say it, Twisted Metal: Head-On was a good time.
Christopher Grant (@ChrisGrant): Dracula X Chronicles and Chains of Olympus.
David Hinkle (@DaveHinkle): Portable Ops, AC!D and AC!D 2, and Mega Man Powered Up are my faves.
Griffin McElroy (@griffinmcelroy): Chains of Olympus is hands-down the best game on the platform. Jeanne D'Arc is really good too.
James Ransom-Wiley: Gitaroo Man Lives! is my favorite, and MLB: The Show (no particular year) is my runner-up.
JC Fletcher (@jcfletcher): Patapon and Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles. That's by default, because I own 2 PSP games so far.
Justin McElroy (@JustinMcElroy): Dead Head Fred and Hot Pixl for LIFE.
Kevin Kelly (@gadgetguy): Am I the only one who seriously loves flOw? And of course, you can't beat Chains of Olympus.
Ludwig Kietzmann (@LudwigK): Lumines and Rock Band: Unplugged. I absolutely cannot go anywhere without them.
Randy Nelson (@DangerPenguin): Talkman. J/K LOL Pursuit Force, God of War: Chains of Olympus, Ultimate Ghosts 'N Goblins and Patapon 2 are so my faves.
Richard Mitchell (@SenseiRAM): Lumines. Done.
Xav de Matos (@Xav): GTA: Chinatown Wars, God of War: Chains of Olympus, Patapon 2 and Killzone Liberation. What? Can't I pick more than two?
