The Queue: Playing favorites

Welcome back to The Queue, WoW.com's daily Q&A column where the WoW.com team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Alex Ziebart will be your host today.

Many of you asked me to keep you updated on the status of my s'mores pizza. I come here today to report that ... I have failed. I didn't make it yet due to lack of crust ingredients. You will just have to take me answering various questions as a consolation prize.

Pheonix asked:

"I know not all of the world zones are in the beta yet, but what's your favorite zone in Cataclysm so far?"

Deepholm. No contest. I think Blizzard does its best work when it can build something truly otherworldly and let imagination run wild. As I've mentioned over and over, Zangarmarsh is my favorite zone in the game. It's because the zone is so alien. It's not just replicating a forest you could go an see in the real world. It's a completely alien environment that Blizzard has built from the ground up. Deepholm is the same. There are some oddities there that you could possibly go see in real life (like pools of mercury), but for the most part, it's a totally unique area.

Howling Fjord is pretty and all but for me it just doesn't compare to alien environs like Zangarmarsh, Netherstorm and now Deepholm.

CountChocula asked:

"Is there anything new about the Chained Essence of Eranikus in Cataclysm?"

Not that I've seen. The Eranikus story was resolved in-game with the Sceptre of the Shifting Sands quest chain. It was then followed up in the Stormrage novel. Eranikus is as done as done can be.

RogueJed86 asked:

"When you go to the Maelstrom and see Thrall, what happens if you jump off the cliff into the Maelstrom? Will you swirl to the bottom and fall into Deepholm, or are there invisible walls to keep you from jumping off?"

Jumping into the Maelstrom is the first thing I tried to do when I arrived. It went poorly. There are no invisible walls right now but there's also no real water. I fell straight through the Maelstrom graphic. And fell. And fell. And fell some more. Then I hit the bottom but didn't die because I'm a paladin with Divine Shield. Then I ran around down on the waterless ocean floor for 10 minutes while my hearthstone refreshed.

So don't jump into the Maelstrom. It is surprisingly boring.

Mortalcoil asked:

"How long has Kalecgos been on top of Wyrmrest Temple?"

He relocated there in Patch 3.3 when the Quel'Delar quest chain was implemented.

Repent asked:

"Queue battle royale. Alex Ziebart, Adam Holisky and Michael Sacco in a free for all cage match. Who wins?"

I don't think the three of us could set aside the years of camaraderie for the sake of blood sport. We'd probably just shrug and sit in a corner talking about video games. We're lovers, not fighters.
