NintendoWare Weekly: Shantae: Risky's Revenge, Fatal Fury 3

Originally meant to be episodic, the long-awaited sequel Shantae: Risky's Revenge arrives on DSiWare today. At 1,200 DSi Points ($12), it's the most expensive game on the service -- though its price doesn't come close to comparing to eBay prices for the original (just the manual is $50). If nothing else, that should provide a clue as to the level of affection people, including opportunistic eBayers, have for this series.

Also available this week: a Virtual Console game. No, really!%Gallery-104185%

WiiWare

  • Racers' Islands - Crazy Racers (Zallag, 1-4 players, 1,000 Wii Points): Drive and shoot to win a racing-based TV show.

  • Learning with the PooYoos: Episode 3 (Publisher, player, Wii Points): The PooYoos have more knowledge to pass on to humanity -- specifically, our 3-6-year-olds.

Virtual Console

  • Fatal Fury 3: Road to the Final Victory (Neo Geo, 1-2 players, 900 Wii Points): For this iteration, SNK added new "Combination Arts" combos, replaced the two-plane system from previous games with a three-plane "Oversway" system, and, of course, added new characters (including Blue Mary).

DSiWare

  • Shantae: Risky's Revenge (WayForward, 1 player, 1,200 DSi Points): The sequel to the Game Boy Color platformer Shantae arrives, starring a half-genie on a quest to defeat the pirate Risky Boots.

  • Rummikub (Games Factory Online, 1-4 players, DSi Points): The weirdly named game that we always passed by without a second look (meaning we now don't know anything about it) arrives on DSiWare. Apparently it's about making "sets" of numerical tiles that add up to certain values.
