The Queue: Veronica Day

Welcome back to The Queue, our daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Alex Ziebart will be your host today.

Fallout: New Vegas has been my poison of choice for the last few days (in between playing World of Warcraft, obviously). Do you know how weird it is to be running around a post-apocalyptic wasteland for hours with an NPC voiced by someone you've met in person? I'll give you a hint: It's really weird.

dawnseven asked:

Now that we're practically on the eve of release, have there been any real changes to fishing in the Cataclysm beta? At last year's BlizzCon, Blizzard said it wanted to make it more interesting. Is there anything new besides new fish and new dailies? Is it still the same ol' boring thing?

The only mechanical change to fishing that I'm aware of is the cog wheel whilst fishing is now a fish icon. Everything else is more or less the same. Truthfully, I don't ever expect Blizzard to completely change how fishing works. Quite a lot of people actually enjoy the "boring" method of fishing, and I'm somewhat ashamed to admit that I'm one of them. It's relaxing in its own way.

stormtwooped asked:

I've been noticing that profession cooldowns have been all over the place lately. Sometimes I'll do a transmute and the cooldown is only 2 hours, while other times I've seen 6 and even 14 hours. If there some kind of dynamic cooldown in the game now, or are the devs just messing with us?

Transmutes now reset at the same time every single day. Rather than a 24-hour cooldown that forces you to log in at the same exact time every day or risk pushing it further and further back, it resets at the same time daily quests reset. No matter what, you will be able to transmute once per day.

For example: If daily quests reset at 12:00 a.m. and you do your transmute at 11:58 p.m., your cooldown will reset in 2 minutes. You forget to do your next transmute immediately and end up doing it at 7 p.m. Your next transmute will still be available at 12:00 a.m. that night.

Steph asked:

Why did I not get a Headless Horseman mount? One of my guildmates this year got it on all four of his level 80s.

I'm sure this was a rhetorical question and you didn't ask this seriously, but I'm going to answer it anyway because this sentiment is going around a lot after this holiday. The answer is: Random loot is random. It sucks, but that's how it goes. It really sucked this year, because they made the mount significantly more common and yet many people walked away without one at all. It's really not fun when you have multiple guildies with multiple Headless Horseman mounts and you can't get one for your main.

My significant other was one of those people who wanted one on her main very badly and couldn't get it, while others had one on every single max-level alt they had. It's lame, but that's how it goes. It really makes you wish they would go back to the system where you could spam the boss all day long if you wanted to do so.

B.J. asked:

Has there been any news lately on rated battlegrounds?

They will exist as a thing you can do in Cataclysm. That's about it. Sorry.

Took me a little bit, but I found the first post EVER for the WoW Insider. Noticing it's also 2,260 pages of blogging, as of this comment. How's it feel to be coming up on 5 years of a successful blogging news site, and what will the staff here do on your 5th-year anniversary?

Holy crap. I don't think any of us even realized our five-year anniversary was so close. I've been a part of WoW Insider for three of those five years. That's a lot of blogging! We'll figure out something to do for our anniversary. If you have any ideas, we would love to hear them.
