Silicon Power crams 128GB into 400x Compact Flash card: a world's first
Whoa, we just hit yet another major performance milestone in removable storage. Silicon Power is touting the world's first 128GB 400x Compact Flash card with write speeds of 90MBps and support for PIO Mode-6 (as defined by CompactFlash spec 2.0) and Multi-Word DMA 4 (as defined by CompactFlash spec 2.1) transfer mode in quad-channel configurations. In other words, it'll play nice with new HD video capable DSLR shooters. Unfortunately, the card is only being announced today -- no price or ship date in the press release. Sigh.

goodbye stupid ancient spinning-shiny-disc-media.
ahhh...i can finally breathe!
@artist
Say goodbye to CF also while you're at it; it's exit is not that far behind.
this just rocked my balls
Is this compatible with the SDXC memory card specification? The last thing we need is a different flash card spec.
@nachotech
Don't think so.
It's Compaact Flash Formfactor != Secure Digital Formfactor
and probably FAT32 whereas SDXC is using exFAT.
Stick THAT in your laptop!

Well, no!
Come on to be honest this is a nice piece of photo equipment i would like to own.
But putting it into laptop?
The Price of this baby will be high high high, i bet a nice state of the art 2,5" SSD won't be more expensive.
Nice hardware to have yes.
But in my laptop i'll stay with real computer gear.
Does it still have the 4GB FAT file limit meaning only 12mins of HD video?
This is unbelievable. Who needs CDs/DVDs anymore?
128GB? You've got to be kidding me!
It wasn't too long ago where most hard drives were smaller than that.
Onward and upward!

todays special price 1000000$ =)
I want a nano with 3 of these chained together.
I wish using the data rate of an audio CD for speeds would die.
What's wrong with MBps? How is a 1x CD drive a useful benchmark for data transfer any more?
@Wolfticket
Totally agree with that!!
Wow. Per the CF spec, this is basically the end of the line, in terms of capacity...
Next, how about "dual core" CF? :P
Wow. 128 GB iPod Mini, you have arrived!
If 16gb can fit on a microsd, this is not noteworthy!
