NintendoWare Weekly: Blaster Master Overdrive, Princess Tomato, Fieldrunners

There's a wide selection of downloads available on Wii and DSi this week -- including stuff that people might have heard of before and/or be interested in! Two days after its reveal, the new Blaster Master game is available on WiiWare, along with Hudson's Princess Tomato, a somewhat forgotten NES oddity. And DSiWare has the iPhone hit Fieldrunners and a new puzzle game by Intelligent Systems. Read about all ten (!) new games after the break.

DSiWare

  • Oscar in Movieland (Virtual Playground, 1 player, 800 DSi Points): A side-scrolling platformer ported from the Amiga to DSiWare -- like its predecessor Oscar in Toyland.

  • Link 'n Launch (Nintendo, 1 player, 500 DSi Points): In this Pipe Dream-esque puzzle game, players connect fuel lines for rockets.

  • Fieldrunners (Subatomic Studios, 1 player, 500 DSi Points): Do you like tower defense? You'll probably love Fieldrunners. Because it's tower defense.

  • Sudoku 4Pockets (4Pockets.com, 1 player, 500 DSi Points): It's not just a clever name -- you really can fit this 3,600 puzzle sudoku game in your pocket, unless you're playing on a DSi XL.

  • Extreme Hangman (Gamelion, 1-2 players, 200 DSi Points): A chalk-outline Hangman is placed in various dangerous situations, and only your correct guesses of the letters in a word can save him.

WiiWare

  • Blaster Master Overdrive (Sunsoft, 1 player, 1,000 Wii Points): Jump back into your cool tank-car thing for a sequel to the classic NES vehicular Metroidvania! If the grenade pause trick doesn't work this time, we're all doomed.

  • Tomena Sanner (Konami, 1-4 players, 500 Wii Points): Jump, dance, kick, and more to get past the moai, sumo wrestlers, punks, trees, aliens, schoolgirls, and other assorted impediments in this extraordinarily quirky one-button game.

  • Bloons (Hands-on Mobile, 1 player, 500 Wii Points): Pop as many balloons as possible using a limited supply of darts.

  • Hubert the Teddy Bear Winter Games (Teyon, 1-16 players, 500 Wii Points): These are the events that don't get televised: "snow fight, sleigh ride, Christmas tree decoration, fishing, catching a bunny and more."

Virtual Console

  • Princess Tomato in the Salad Kingdom (NES, 1 player, 500 Wii Points): Hudson's graphical text adventure stars Sir Cucumber, who must rescue Princess Tomato from Minister Pumpkin and prevent the Farmies from overthrowing the Salad Kingdom, with only a baby persimmon named Percy to help him.
