CES Samsung apparently unveiled this little guy -- the TicToc
PMP, which seems to be aiming firmly at the
iPod shuffle demographic -- whatever demographic that is. This little bad boy's got just one physical button (for power and volume control) while other functions of the player -- playback, skipping past songs and the like -- are all controlled by shaking. The TicToc will come in 2GB and 4GB varieties, have a supposed battery life of up to 12 hours, and it'll also have a cute little docking station to go with it. There's no pricing information yet, but we hear it'll definitely be available later this year. There's one more shot after the break.
awesome title for crappy song!
Because I won't get strange looks from people vigorously shaking my hand in my pocket.
Somebody *PLEASE* think of the children!

@richb93
+1 for the funny
-1 for the double
Your sum is zero.
@Smart People Play Tuba
I made an extra double just for you...
hope you like it strong
Double post wasn't intentional. My internet is a boob.
@richb93 And here i thought all the internet was nothing but boobs.
So, if you take this jogging, you'll get to hear all your songs… or bits of them, in about 45 seconds.
@EWTHeckman Its not too bad.. If your friends ask you if that's really the mp3 player you're using.. you can lie and tell em its a pencil sharpener.
@EWTHeckman And have you ever seen a more tacky looking device from such a *normally* respectable company?
@EWTHeckman haha i have to agree. I immediately thought, you can only use this if you're comatose and dont move at all. Kind of relaxing i suppose
I can see merging the power button with another one, you just make the long press the power on/off. But how is volume up, and volume down one button?
Doesn't the shuffle even have dedicated volume buttons?
I'll buy 100 if it means I don't have to Keshas song ever again
I'll buy 100 if it means I don't have to Hear Keshas song ever again
I hope they realize the iPod shuffle demographic is mostly for people who jogs, snowboard, ski, etc
@phantazm You cracked the code on why this might just be the worst idea... ever.
Hell, I didn't even know there WAS a iPod shuffle demographic....
Wasn't there something else like this? For kids, or something? I really don't see the signifigance if this, other than the fact that it can sense motion.
@Hahhah313
That was the Sansa Shaker. It wasn't controlled by shaking, it added sounds like drums and other instruments. It was shaped like an hourglass and had an SD slot.
@joelaf
The Shaker still looks like a better bet. Shame it doesn't support SDHC.
Cool I wonder what happes while running with?
What is a Keshas?
@glamajamma
Kesha is evil song that causes brain damage
@Bublik25
actually, Ke$ha is a singer (using the terms loosely) who sings a song called "Tik Tok", however, you are right about the brain damage part.
Am I the only one who thinks this thing looks like a kids pencil sharpener?
Great, now I can get a PMP to go with my Hello Kitty backpack!
If "Loud Drunk Annoying Chick" was a country, Ke$ha's song would be the national anthem.
@tomsomething
I did not know England changed their national anthem (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1246802/Record-number-women-arrested-violent-crimes.html). I mean, 24 hour drinking laws have apparently caused young women in that country to go completely bonkers, but I had no idea they were planning on adopting a new national anthem lol
I think the original "clip" shuffle (the square-ish one) was a great design. Small, simple, perfect for taking to the gym or walking around. Any simpler than that, and it's just kind of pointless.
Wake up in the morning feelin like P Diddy
If you haven't learned this yet, my music's kinda shitty
This thing's actually cute, so give a cheer now rah rah
and listen to a GOOD song made by Lady Gaga.
@KeegdnaB
i think i love you!!!
Whats up with these prehistoric designs and tech in 2010 gadgets people no wonder apple has the pmp market in hand because they don't fool around with their hardware designs. im not an apple fanboy but i'm just saying that companies like samsung need to know that we don't need this kind of stupid shit when there's nano's, touches, p3's, zune hd's and other better stuff out there.
quite honestly, it looks like a pack of toothpicks... still cute though, even if the dock is bigger than the mp3 itself
wow...does someone bite their nail or what?
