HTC Desire's Sense UI ported to Droid; HTC, Motorola cringe
If you work for Motorola, cover your ears and say "Blur Blur Blur Blur" at the top of your lungs over and over again for the duration of this post, because what we're about to present is an unholy marriage the likes of which neither Sanjay Jha nor Peter Chou ever intended. It's not the first time we've heard of a version of Sense finding its way onto Motorola hardware, but developers over on AllDroid have posted a bunch of video and stills claiming to have ported an HTC Desire's (née Bravo's) Sense-enabled firmware to Moto's beast -- and what's more, there's footage of it running Flash. Bear in mind that the speed at which Flash is running here looks downright painful -- and we fully expect official Flash support on the Droid later this year anyhow -- but anyone conflicted between the Droid's muscular lines and HTC's lovely skin might want to keep an eye on this project. It's still very early in development, but the most important part of the port has already been finished: it shows the proper Droid logo on startup. Follow the break for video.

warning on the music could have been nice. Slideshow video! wow. Super slick though, i really dont like the droid standard interface, sense is just so much easier on the eyes.
@jakjak9210
the Wild Thing attacks without warning.
@jakjak9210
Sense is so damn laggy
@engadget "claiming to have ported an HTC Desire's (née Bravo's) Sense-enabled firmware to Moto's beast". What more evidence are you seeking? Seen my other video? More to come.
Also, please provide credit to AT LEAST the significant players here (in no particular order): Greek35t, birdman, thegeektern, and myself (they're the primary devs by far, I instigated the project and am largely responsible for the P.R.)
@TonyMontana2367 On the wrong hardware, and unoptimized that's true, but the same can be said of any software platform on any hardware.
We've already make HUGE improvements to the speed I'm told (haven't received a new build to show off just yet, but I will ASAP).
I ported SenseUI to the CLIQ a LOOONNNGGGGG time ago. Submitted to engadget too but you guys never picked up the story...

@Kmobs Sorry -- this is the Droid, not the CLIQ.
@Kmobs That's because they are lost and without direction.
@Chris Ziegler Thanks for the heads up? Like the picture didn't give it away?
I'm just saying that Moto hardware has had HTC software on it before ;)
@Kmobs thats ok. we still got love for you and your N1 kernels
@alphabuild Oh yeah.. that reminds me... Engadget doesn't seem to like nexuses at 1.113 ghz. :(
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=633238
@Kmobs they like em @ 9000mhz!
@Chris Ziegler's response
wow. dismissed.
now, didn't that comment deserve to be downranked, at least, just a little?
CLIQ users: you have been deemed un-worthy; go eat your cake.
@Kmobs Ah, sorry -- thought you were saying this was a CLIQ port and it wasn't news!
@Kmobs and that rom doesn't have:
Camera
Bluetooth
Wifi
DATA (sending texts don't work, but receiving them is fine)
Accelerometer
probably a bunch of other stuff.
@Kmobs Hi kmobs. Nexus will fry tonight!
@csmcdem He has gotten everything fixed except Wifi,Bluetooth and INCOMING calls.Besides that the rom is ready for release.
@Kmobs
Honestly that's not that impressive when most Droids are stable at 1.2 now.
@Marco Juan Difference is we don't increase stock voltage at all.
@Droidfanatic22 i know. I was talking about KMobs' SenseUI port to CLIQ
Nice, il wait for a htc phone with sense UI though...
This is why android should be loved! Versatility my friends.
@newjaruz unfortunately versatility=fragmentation :(
WM6 line has a good bit of versatility and we kind of saw how that turned out.
im really dont understand what this article is about other than something about flash being slow. not to mention the video is really slow itself.
Two Words!! Droid Does...
Its funny how all this Android "home screen" swapping is all the rage, I cant wait until it is demonized like Windows Mobile has been when the trend dies.
When Google sits on their laurels for 10 years we might see that. Until then they are the platform to beat besides the iPhone.
@Aridon
I have a friend named laurel.
Every UI is with every other phone, nice to know that UI prostitution is all the rage now days, hehe
old news...
might want to link to their current thread on alldroid though...

I must say, the droid has become a very capable phone in terms of mods.
I concur.
"Let's do it"
Let's not. Mute
@ Chris Ziegler
Nice use of "née" there. I had to look up what that meant.
Did you actually know what that means, or do you know French or something?

GI Joes: ~Now you know, and knowing is half the battle.~
@Johnny Rockets
Really? It's used here (Australia) regularly to indicate a woman's maiden name, not something you see everyday but I'm surprised people haven't heard of it.
@Johnny Rockets
It's just the past tense of born in french.
@Bratyr This is America! We ain't got no good English over here!
@E30 Kid
I thought born is past tense.
Lets do it at a sexy 6 fps.
@Jeff
this.
I've been following this development for a while now (more like patiently waiting). The dev's said that flash has improved along with overall rom speed. Can't wait!
@thebignoob
I was referring to the vid quality, but w/e.
So they are technically savvy enough to adapt a ROM image from one piece of hardware to another but not savvy enough to take an in focus still picture. Congrats
@wonderbread
its always annoying... if i could put pictures in my comments, i would take a picture or even a video (of my computer screen for example) with my old lg dare and post it, it would be similar
.
OH DESIRE
Laggy beyond functional. Pass.
Holy crap that's laggy, my 1.5 stock Hero flies compared to that.
Very nice 1st shot. Looking forward to seeing faster, more complete builds
Runs a whole lot better and smoother on the N1. Might it be due to Snapdragon or the fact that its an Htc product?
@mitsu8
Actually smart one the FPS on the video is poor not the actual rom.See you would know that if you bothered to check out the other video at all droid. HTC fanboy much?
