PlayStation Move controller priced at $60 in Canada
Sony's been pretty fuzzy on pricing for the PlayStation Move -- we've only really heard "under $100" for the full package with controller and camera -- but it looks like the numbers are starting to solidify, as Gamestop Canada has the controller itself now listed for $59.99. How that number will translate into a US price is obviously up in the air, but Sony's MSRPs tend to be the same or similar across the US and Canada, so we'd say we've at least got a reasonable estimate of how much this thing is going to cost. We'd also guess that this points to a full package price of $99, but we'll see -- Sony's got months before the Move's planned holiday launch to tweak all these numbers.

If Sony wants to launch it now, I'm okay with that.
@NHAnimator
Apparently our Canuck friends got it released back in January and decided not to tell anyone...
@Rick James I believe they put month and day backwards?
@NHAnimator
Damn! $60 for one freaking Move controller? As long as I get a second + the PSeye for $39 more...
@Rick James d/m/y... lol americans
@NHAnimator Wow. So if thats 60 the sub controller will be 40 (I guess) plus you have to have the Eye. Plus any more controllers you want....you're talking the price of a whole new system. Well, half the price of a new Sony system, but the price of an Xbox or Wii.
@NHAnimator
I can only imagine the type of foreign object pr0n I'll see online with that device.
@Sled
Of course I was joking...lol Canadians...

I thought it was illegal to sell sex toys in a video game store...
@baumer
Out of curiosity, how is day/month/year "backwards"?
How does your calendar count up? Days make up months, which make up years, right? Month/day/year doesn't make any sense at all. Then again, you guys still use some ancient dude's foot length to measure your stuff.
@pika2000
Ask your mother
It says "Ships 01/09/2010"?
Are Canada's day/month flipped compared to the US? If so, is that a Sept. 1st ship date? Coz I thought the Move was coming out in Nov and MS had leapfrogged them by releasing Natal in Oct. Is Sony leaping back further now?
@NHAnimator
Yep, that's Sept 1, 2010.
@NHAnimator
Yes the US has the date format backwards.
@SmokemeaKipper
But the US invented time and the calendar.
$60? Sony-ish priced.
Not a bad price for a controller plus the camera I think! Though the price was never my gripe with this controller :p
@zath
That's per controller. Plus a nunchuck. Now multiply that by the number of people you want to play with you. Now it just got expensive.
$60? Is that a joke? Sorry, but I'm not paying $60 for this. I love the technology and potential far more than the shit Wiimote or gimmicky Natal, but that's way to much to ask for. $50 would already be pushing it, but I'd be willing to pay that. But $60? Sorry. No sale.
@kenny goo
That's what I get for reading "$60" and not "in Canada".
My apologies.
@kenny goo
and yet you will pay 60 for a game... or 50 for a dual shock 3?
@kenny goo
Are you going to go ape-shit again if Sony announces a US price of $60? I just need to be warned.
@kenny goo The price will be the same in the U.S
The Canadian currency is at par with the U.S (some days it's a bit under, other a bit over, others the same). Unless this particular store is selling it more then the real MSRP, or it's a typo.
@GoodBytes
Actually it will probably be $50 USD and $60 CAD. Things are often priced much higher here to compensate for the fluctuating dollar. It sucks for us. Usually games and controllers are about $10 more (anything in the $50 - $70 price range). Other stuff is upped by fairly random amounts to allow a buffer. For example, the entry level iPad is going to be $550 here. Making it even more over-priced.
@kenny goo I'm hoping natal is around the same price, I won't need to buy any extra controllers though.
+1 microsoft.
@Rick James
Either way, $60 for a dildo looking controller that you wave around in the air like a magic wand? Seems kind of expensive. And it doesn't even vibrate!
Maybe it was $50 but then they jumped it up $10 bucks after Hearing what EA was doing with online charges.....blame EA.
@Gamecheater
I thought they did Vibrate...
@engadgetcomexcludeengadget
New controllers cost $55.........so $5 more for a totally new way to play many new exciting titles? Yeah, I think i'll manage.
You didn't buy a PS3 for it to be cheap.
Sony's stuff is so darn expensive. Don't they know we are in a recession?
Jeremy Cushing
So it shipped January 9th 2010 huh? Interesting since no one even knew about it then
@Jaylittles531
Fun fact:
Foreign lands flip flop the day of the month to confuse Americans. It's a tradition that pre-dates those old fogey Tea-Partiers!
@Wiizer
Fun fact:
Your sarcasm meter is broken
I really hope that the multipacks of these things are priced more competitively than this... because some games need two of them, and as such playing two players on those games will require four, and I'm sure as hell not knocking out $240 for some controllers. (I already have the camera)
So that means its going to be 10 bucks in the states despite the fact that the Canadian and US dollars are almost on par. Everyone LOVES ripping off us poor Canadians.
Wow this is gonna get expensive if this is a solid price point for them, the sub controller has to be anywhere from 20-40 bucks, let the churning begin! I'm afraid to see how much M$ is gonna expect people to pay for Natal. If Natal is priced less than two sets of Moves and sub controllers, I'd say Sony fails.
$60 per wand? OH FUCK NO!!
They better Bundle it with a Wand, a Sub controller, and a disc with like 10 games on it...
@Chris DPSN AggieCEO XBLThe Aggi
What are you going to do if they don't? Lol.
@Rick James most likely I'll wait for the inevitable sale someone has on the m During Black Friday
That means $60 US. Too bad Sony sucks
@Troyb0y29
the exchange rate for US dollar to Canadian dollars is 0.97445 US$ per Canadian $. That's approximately 58.47 USD, still a bit higher than the wii mote. However it's a system if they include PS3 eye.
Let me take this moment to clarify a couple of things for future commenters:
1: It's $60 CANADIAN right now.
2: 1/9/10 is SEPTEMBER 1st, 2010 in Canada and most of the rest of the world.
Thank you.
@Nicnac Dang you ruined my thunder
at least it has buttons right?
Basically don't even bother, get the Natal *wink*
@Anticrawl But the natal doesn't plug into my ps3, now I'm in despair.
@rhododragon
Spend 200 dollars you would have spent getting the Move and get a 360. Then ask for Natal for your birthday. ????? PROFIT!
My father owns a Wii, with 4 controllers. so their grand children can play games..
In canada the wii motes cost like 39 dollars and the nunchuks cost another 20 dollars.
so ya nintendo charges 60 dollar controllers too. my dad spend 240 bucks on them,,
i just want to let the comments section know that I am the mysterious 'Matthew' in the article and that you can all touch me if you like touching me.
