Samsung's Galaxy Apollo smartphone is coming soon, looks like an M100S to us
In the off chance that the Galaxy S isn't your cup of tea, the second-hottest Android device Samsung has released so far is undoubtedly the M100S over in its domestic Korean market, a 3.7-inch hottie with a 5 megapixel cam, 802.11n WiFi, and Android 2.1. It's not just for South Korea, though, as evidenced by this shot that's popped up over on Samsung's British site showing a device known as the "Galaxy Apollo" that looks suspiciously identical to the M100S. Frankly, we're still dying to get a glimpse of this Bluetooth 3.0-equipped M120S at some point -- but in the meantime, we suppose this puppy will have to do. No word on a release date, but Sammy's site claims that it's "coming soon."

Dear Samsung,
You have some of the best hardware technology in the business. We want your processor and super amoled screen. We do not want your nasty Touchwiz 3.0 UI.
Seriously. I want to buy every one of your new superphones I see. I will not as long as long as you continue to do this.
Stock Android. Come through with updates. Get my money.
@JONNNathannn
ok
@JONNNathannn
i am sure there will be an option to disable that to get the stock android UI like the one in htc to disable sense UI.. no?
@JONNNathannn I'm pretty much never a fan of Samsung designs.
@JONNNathannn
100% agree
@JONNNathannn
Samsung is so damn stubborn. They have no idea what to do in the American market anymore.
@JONNNathannn
All of these guys - Samsung, HTC, SE, Motorola - should give us the option of reverting to stock Android.
(People report that HTC's SenseUI can be turned off, but it turns out that it can only be half turned off.)
Sometimes we like their hardware, but not their custom UI.
@JONNNathannn I always thought that Sammy's UI is extremely ugly. Especially on the Samsung Wave. Then I tried the Wave, and it was amazing how badass that UI is in reality. I still think that Sammy made a mistake with the UI, as it is extremely hard to make good pictures of it, but face to face, the UI rocks.
@JONNNathannn
Agreed, and while we're at it, make the phone easily rootable. Honestly, how does a manufacturer like HTC or Samsung suffer from making a phone easily rootable? But yeah, updates and support have made it difficult to purchase Samsung.
@JONNNathannn
totally agree with you!
@JONNNathannn
How Korea advertises it's AMOLED screen...

Lets see Apple top this for their Retina screen. I don't see it happening.
Why make it look like an iPhone..it isn't!
@plbelanger
its a phone after all
@plbelanger Why claim that it looks like an iPhone.. It doesn't!
@gabrielvisser agreed. it doesn't.
@plbelanger
Yeah, still trying to see what you saw that made it look like an iPhone...
OH WAIT! Its got a home button in the center...nope still got nothing.
More Galaxy S please
Seconded.
@MagnetMan
Agreed :)
@MagnetMan and a little "Pro" version doesn't hurt either! What happened to it? :(
I dont care if its A B or C, if it aint about the Galaxy S I just dont care.
Samsung do great hardware but do TERRIBLE support for Android updates. Until they hire a few developers or god for bid open source their kernel and keep their phones up to date they cannot be trusted.
@richard d I know. I want the Galaxy S, to replace my aging G1. But I'm worried about updates. I don't wanna be stuck on an old version of Android less than 6 months after I buy it.
@richard d:
Not only has Samsung terrible support for Android updates, they have terrible support for EVERYTHING. I've got the Samsung Bada. the thing has some issues with mail- and exchange-accounts. Called Samsung. The guy on the other end seriously asked me "Yeah, so? What do you want me to do about it?" - Seriously!
-
I've got to wait for a firmware update which probably will never come...
@MichaelPB your totally right about Samsung's poor support. I thought they were slowly easing out of the cell manufacturing market. Look at when they were releasing 5 phones almost every week. They're OS, WinMo, S60, etc. How many of those phones from last year or January of this one is anyone using as their main device? How many is Samsung offering support for?
Call me nitpicky but,
..if this lacks a flash for camera just like it's Galaxy S sibling... I'm gonna have to pass
@LiveFromThe215
Nope you're not nitpicking.For the amount of money spent hell even some or more cheaper crap phones further down the Galaxy S' rank are LED flash equipped.The feature omission are honestly mind boggling.Regardless if a built-in cam aren't that good it should have a flash.Period.
I thought about buying a samsung phone but although they have nice screens and cameras there UI SUCKS.Thats why i went with HTC and i fell in love with HTC Sense
This won't be the Galaxy A, aka m100s, as it wont come with the DMB tuner in the States. Still, super amoled on a device that'll probably be $100 or free on contract is a win.
Where are the low price bada phone ??
@Fubukii new article on the low priced Bada phone, you don't want it but it's gonna be CHEAP. Edge network, 80mb memory, sell lot hot cakes to developing nations (maybe?).
Samsung's pros:
+ Super AMOLED is absolutely amazing and the main reason I've been holding off buying phones for a heck of a long time now
+ Impressive processing power
Samsung's cons:
- Intentional lack of updates
- Appearance of the hardware itself borders on ugly (and tends to cross said border)
- Dreadful custom UI
- Obscene prices
- Keyboard?
Ummm ... It has been released on orange
