We've had our eye on Sony's motion controller for quite a while now, but at E3 2010 we finally got the pricing and availability we'd all been waiting for. If you've missed anything -- well, here's your chance to catch up on all the details at our PlayStation Move hub.
@Eli Haj Pssh. Including myself, I know many people who are Wii Bowling pros even while lying down. You just need to be able to barely move your wrist.
@Laura June: I never said that you shouldn't. It's simply that this recent torrent of 'hub posts' seem a little needless, since we've all come to see that Engadget produces/enhances hubs after major product announcements/events since the site underwent the substantial redesign.
The hubs, in and of themselves, are a really nice idea, as it is sometimes nice to deep-dive on the holistic coverage of a certain product/event, however the recent stream of posts constantly highlighting them seems a little unnecessary - c'est tout.
@Eli Haj I'm guessing that the glow needs to be a little more visible from different angles (hence it's supposed superiority to the Wii's controller). They could have, however, made the bulb a half-sphere integrated into the tip of the controler, instead of a detached dome.
The notion that Americans are overweight (or obese) because of videogames (TV, reading books, movies, web surfing, etc.) does not account for the Obesity Epidemic which pretty much started in the early 80s. The biochemistry of fat regulation depends upon the quality of nutrients, whereas insulin is secreted in response to glucose, and it is insulin which drives the accumulation of fat. Cheap, abundant, robust, addictive, sweet nutrients such as sugars and starches look very much to be the primary culprits. And low-fat diets will tend to be high-carbohydrate diets because you're pretty much only going to eat protein, fats, and carbohydrates. So if you're avoiding fat because you were told repeatedly by nutrition authorities that it is harmful to your health (linked to heart disease), you might want to re-examine the scientific basis for that recommendation.
"Active" games will attract some fitness enthusiasts, but do not expect them solve our health crisis.
I don't like to be a hater, but the "Move" seems like an incredibly weak effort from Sony. 3+ years to observer and learn from the smash success of the Wii and the best they can do is a Super-Wii-Mote. I know, there are differences in how it works and that it should work a lot better, but the bottom line is that it doesn' shift and improve the way we interface with the system.
I'm skeptical that Microsoft's Kinect is going to be a robust enough solution to move from fun party gimmick to serious interface paradigm... but holy crap, at least they tried!
[personal taste commentary] And the Pii-Mote isn't helped by its attempt to disguise itself as the bastard child of a battery-powered ice cream cone and an anime action figure.
maybe it is a stupid question but, how do you choose the color? i mean, if you have the blue one, and a friend also have the blue one, can you change color or you just cant play together?
Now that we've thrown 'em off the trail, use the form below to get in touch with the people at Engadget. Please fill in all of the required fields because they're required.
looks weird.
@One Love may be but with things like this, Wii and Kinect, we will see less fat kids everyday!
@statickeith
The Wii is recommended by the heart association for this reason. But i still dont see kids losing pounds because of their Wiis
@One Love
Lillipop Lillipop!
@Eli Haj Pssh. Including myself, I know many people who are Wii Bowling pros even while lying down. You just need to be able to barely move your wrist.
@One Love Looks like something my girlfriend hides in her night table...
@mnhthebest I usually break a sweat and start breathing pretty heavy when playing with my wii vigorously for a while.
Forearms even get sore from the repetitive waggling.
Sony made a sex toy?
@TheEvilMachinist
You mean you never stuck a Sixaxis up your as$?!
@TheEvilMachinist
What the hell do you people stick up your asses that slightly resembles the move? Show me
@Alone in a Crowd
Don't joke about that. I never got my last one back.
My fantasy game for this device is a High Def 1:1 Star Wars Episode IV reenactment. Relive the movie by playing as Luke.
@Alone in a Crowd even better would be to let us play the scene from the SW: the Old Republic. That scene rocked!
@Alone in a Crowd
I can't help but picture the fat star wars kid wearing a cape.
Might want to put a NSFW tag on there ... oh wait
Screw this. We need more Apple news! Apple, Apple Apple. I thought this was the official Apple blog anyways. Engadget u are slipping.

im still trying to figure out a way this could look better ... i guess they were stuck on that too.
Sony's using the Hitachi magic wand massager for this? I guess they really want to get a bigger female base for their system...
I've never seen a gadget that looks as silly as this one!
