I dunno if there are any girls on engadget! lolz
@statickeith Laura June did write this post......noted "girl" as Josh pointed out on an Engadget Show
@statickeith There are no girls on the internet.
@MishkaGreen I was talking about girl users, not authors
@statickeith
So, what, you're saying girls can't be geeks. Dude, you're an ass and a sexist. If I was a girl I'd be so pissed at you. Go back to jerking off to your porn collection you insensitive prick.
@techee44 d00d - if that joke stresses you out you need to watch some pr0n.
@techee44
Settle down man
@techee44
Wow, are u really a human? Can't u even understand a joke? Geez!
@techee44 I'm guessing that the numerous women out there on the 'net don't really need you to be their defender...especially considering your approach. I'm just sayin'...
@statickeith I'm a girl, an Evo 4G owner, a mom, a wife, and I love jewelry made of electronics. I have earrings (well, plugs) made of watch parts and circuit boards.
@techee..... Leave Britany alone!!!!!
This is nice. But it is not steampunk.
xnappo
@xnappo Agreed, doesn't scream "steampunk"
@xnappo agreed. i didn't really think about it much at first because the person that made it used the designation, but you're right.
@Laura June That is fantastical! :)
@xnappo To be "steampunk", I'd think vacuum tubes would have to be involved. Capacitors and resistors might still be okay, but diodes (ie, half a transistor) would definitely be out.
I hope those are lead free components! Judging by the type and presumed vintage of them however, they are most likely not lead free. My girlfriend will not be wearing those!
@Radioheadonist
Actually, I'm going to disagree with you. These components look mostly new. Whether they are RoHS compliant or not is not readily apparent, but they certainly could be.
Anyways, props to you for your foresight and for caring about your GF!
Are the capacitors wired up together? Charge them up and It might be a 'dramatic' way for the girl wearing these to keep the guys off her.
LOL 1337.
First!
@techee44
You all are just jealous!
This is more Cyberpunk than Steampunk, with the lack of brass and all.
Beats those 'pearl' necklaces ;)
@Lemenick
I would rather give my gf a pearl necklace too ;) she wouldn't like it much though :(
@Lemenick Congrats to the one that went for the joke that we all thought about but weren't juvenile enough to actually say...way to display your attitude toward women...even if it is a 'joke', it is in poor taste...but we had to expect someone to dip that low.
@techee44
Easy there killer... lol
My wife and I have been making similar jewelry online for years now (http://stewartjewelrydesigns.com/catalog/1). The girl in the video did a very nice job and her necklace and earrings came out beautifully (I esp. like the earrings). I can speak from experience that making jewelry out of electronics is incredibly difficult, harder than making actual electronics. My only problem is that I'm not entirely sure of the safety of wearing electrolytic caps, seems a little iffy to me.
Reminds me of a friend of mine that liked to wear a potentiometer on a chain around his neck. He told his math teacher it was a good luck charm that kept away the difficult algebra problems.
It was after all a "variable resistor".
And yes, that's true story. Sad, but true.
Oops, how did I stumble upon QVC.com? I thought I was on Engadget?
Would you date a girl wearing that?
