We'll admit it, not long ago it still looked like the US had a clear road to the semifinals and by Jingo, the Engadget HQ was in full
World Cup frenzy mode. But then came a major disappointment vs Ghana, and we're wondering if anyone else is still hanging on to a game most of us ignore outside of this once every four years event. The quality of the games being played hasn't dropped a bit (Germany and the Netherlands, wow) and the broadcasts are looking good in HD and
3D, so let's have it, who's still tuned in?
What a stupid poll.
@kcmurphy88
I said the same thing. didn't expect such stupidity from engadget.
@Skyyo210 Yeah, look at us morons. watching the world cup.
The whole idea of the poll is flawed. Wow look at the choices!
But seriously, do you guys really wanna quit watching at this stage simply because your team is out? o_0
@fikhl New poll: Can soccer fans read?
@RichardLawler Only statistics and names.
@fikhl
Poor choices in the poll.
I agree with you. I was a fan of the sport before all this. US soccer is not great by any means. I don't watch MLS because it's not exciting the better matches are outside the US.
Let's go Germany.
Negative poll much? Just watched the Spain - Paraguay match.
You forgot the option: I was watching it, until all the the fake injuries and deceptive players started to run wild. If the refs would call these players out on faking injuries just to stall or gain an edge and actually play the game, well, then I may continue to watch it...
@Stevez48 Man thats all part of soccer! Just laugh at these grown men being baby's for penalties and move on!
I'm from Canada and we don't even have a team in there and I'm just getting into it now. It's a lot more exciting that I had realized.
GO NETHERLANDS!
Stupid poll is just..... hmmm.. stupid.
WTH @ the poll. So watching soccer now that the US is out is unpatriotic? Can't be serious.
@LANjackal So in your eyes, a faint damning of the stereotype of ignorant americans who don't watch soccer = watching soccer is unpatriotic? Give it another read.
@RichardLawler Sorry, I guess I didn't pick up on the sarcasm
@LANjackal Clearly, you're not the only one but yeah, still watching over here, Germany was great today.
@RichardLawler Still watching here as well
Bad poll.
I'm from the US, live in the US, lived in Germany for nearly a decade. So the Deutscher Fussball Bund is still strong, Miroslav Klose will beat the all-time scoring record, and hopefully they beat Spain and meet the Netherlands in the final (I think the Dutch will beat Uruguay).
@maythetechbewithyou any actual reason why it's bad or do you just like hitting buttons?
@RichardLawler I love hitting buttons.
I just thought the first selection was a bit ridiculous. I am proud to be an American, but I still watch it afterwards because regardless the sport is fantastic. It just seems degrading for us actual futbol fans. But then again you aren't the only staff member who has made disappointing polls.
Also, the "even with the Vuvuzelas" portion seemed like a bad attempt at humor which failed miserably. But that one is purely taste on my part.
@RichardLawler Also, thanks for responding to us who have complaints. Shows real initiative and I appreciate it.
@maythetechbewithyou generally in polls there will be options you don't agree with, but other people do.
Sorry if I offended by not including an option for the people who love vuvuzelas and soccer, or maybe vuvzelas, but not soccer.
@RichardLawler Again, the vuvuzela portion was just me not loling at the joke. But thanks for your response.
The poll should be who is not watching futbol vs who is?. Then you'll see how popular real futbol is
I've been watching the games on ABC. I wish the quality were a little better, although I suppose it could be my local affiliate. Does anyone else notice how the grass becomes a green mess much of the time? The encoder also doesn't handle those sideline close ups with all the signage in the background.
I am watching In South Africa on DSTV and I have not noticed any problems with the HD pictures. I have noticed some big problems with the standard of referreing .It really is about time that some video tech was brought it. Mind you it is good to see those cheating bastards the French
exit early. And the did the hand of God play a part in the exit of Argentina.
Lets hope fate has a similar part to play in the Germans next match.
As True Sportsmen would have told the ref that England scored !!
Hmm...which option was "yes"? I hope it was the 4th one because that's what I picked.
Been watching and enjoying.
I'm improving my Spanish by watching on Spanish-speaking channel. Shakira + 1 month of football. Wow.
Well I have been watching the world cup on my EVO at work....
I've probably read this poll about 10 times over and have yet to figure out why many have criticized it so much. It was a pretty simple choice to me and I moved on.
I'm guessing it has to be because of option 1 but really guys, if you've felt stung because of that then you need to build some tougher skin. That was the lightest attack on my US citizenship since birth.
I love watching soccer and I'm hoping Germany goes all the way.
I'm an American that hopes the German "uber-men" get stuffed by the Spaniards. Come on Pujol, show Klose what an opportunistic poseur he really is. In the meantime I've been playing my Shakira - Waka Waka downloaded .mkv video at least twice a day. Luv her.
written by a disgruntled Man United supporter.
This poll is fucked up...first 3 questions are for football haters, the 4th is stupid question and the 5th is not even a question.
Who is the moron who did this, open your window and just jump
